Hampshire have signed West Indian fast bowler Fidel Edwards for the second part of the 2015 season.
The 33-year-old, who will be available for all three formats, arrives at the Ageas Bowl as a Kolpak player and therefore will not count as an overseas signing.
The right-armer will join Hampshire in time for their opening Royal London One-Day Cup match against Sussex Sharks on July 27.
Edwards said: “I'm delighted to have signed for such an ambitious club as Hampshire. I hope I can play a part in helping to bring success to the Ageas Bowl this year.
“I'm very much looking forward to my first taste of county cricket. It's also an honour to follow other Bajans like Malcolm Marshall and Gordon Greenidge to Hampshire."
Edwards has played 55 Test matches and 50 one-day internationals for West Indies, claiming figures of 6-92 in a Test against England at Lord’s in May 2009.
Earlier this month Edwards blew away Nottinghamshire's order to finish with figures of 8-40 during a friendly for the Combined Campuses and Colleges.
Hampshire director of cricket Giles White said: “Fidel is a good option for us - he arrives ahead of the Royal London One-Day Cup and should give our attack variety which we feel is key in the 50-over format.
“His stay will also extend to championship cricket and he will be available until the end of the season.”
Edwards joins a largely revamped Hampshire bowling attack for 2015, with Australian Jackson Bird and New Zealander Andre Adams available at the start of the season, and Yasir Arafat and Gareth Berg joining from Sussex and Middlesex respectively.
