Nottinghamshire have strengthened their batting department ahead of the new season with the capture of Zimbabwe international Brendan Taylor.
Taylor, currently playing at the World Cup, has been drafted in to fill the void left by injuries to top-order batsmen Michael Lumb and Jake Libby, who are both expected to miss the start of the campaign.
The experienced 29-year-old, who also keeps wicket, has played 23 Tests, 166 one-day internationals and 26 Twenty20s for Zimbabwe.
Notts are set to finalise details of Taylor’s move when his country’s World Cup campaign ends on Saturday.
Taylor had had an impressive showpiece, hitting scores of 40, 47, 37 and 50 before compiling 121 against Ireland.
Director of cricket Mick Newell said: "Ahead of the upcoming season, we have found ourselves with two batsmen injured and face the potential loss of players to international commitments.
"We have decided to strengthen our batting order with Brendan, a proven player who will be an excellent addition to the side.”
