Lancashire, Surrey and Yorkshire women have all secured their overseas players for this season.

Australians Meg Phillips and Beth Mooney will play for the Red and White Rose respectively while New Zealander Rachel Candy will return to Surrey.

Phillips, awarded an Adam Gilchrist scholarship for 2015, is a top-order batter and medium-pace bowler, and will also play for local club Tottingham St John’s alongside England international Kate Cross.

The 19-year-old, of Tasmania Roar, said: “I am very excited to be debuting for Lancashire in May. Along with Yorkshire, these are the two most famous counties in England.

“I am really looking forward to experiencing life in Manchester and finishing the season in the perfect way with the Roses match against Yorkshire in September.”

Phillips’ compatriot Mooney will arrive at Headingley in April and is set to play for the White Rose for the majority of the season.

The 21-year-old, part of Australia’s World T20-winning squad in 2014, will take wicketkeeping duties off England international Lauren Winfield, who will concentrate on batting and captaincy.

Queensland Fire player Mooney, who will also be attached to Wakefield club Wrenthorpe, said: “It is a great honour to be joining Yorkshire.

“I’ve only ever heard good things about the set-up at Headingley and the people involved with the organisation. I also have a couple of mates in Australia that know a couple of players for Yorkshire and they said they’re really good people.”

All-rounder Candy will represent Surrey again this year, having helped the club finish second in the Royal London One-Day Cup in 2014.

The Canterbury player said: “I’m really excited. I had such a good time last year and really enjoyed the girls. I’m looking forward to having more of an impact this year and doing a wee bit more with the ball.

“After our start to the season last year there was a bit of belief and that definitely helped. If we can be a bit more consistent, especially with the bat that will definitely help.”
