Captain Eoin Morgan could not hide his disappointment at England's heavy defeat to New Zealand but refused to give up hope of reaching the World Cup quarter-finals.
England were beaten by eight wickets in Wellington after being bowled out for 123, Tim Southee taking 7-33.
Brendon McCullum then blasted 77, as the in-form tournament co-hosts chased the target down in quick time.
Asked for his reaction to the performance, Morgan said: "Disappointment more than anything.
"Credit goes to them, it's probably the best bowling display we've come across since we've been down this side of the world, which says a lot considering we played against Australia.
"Today we couldn't cope with their performance."
Having also lost their opening game to Australia, England will need to turn things around quickly starting against Scotland on Monday.
Morgan will not panic, though, with matches against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan also in store.
"These first two games we said were going to be difficult games, playing against the two favourites in their home conditions, but we shouldn't be beaten by this amount," he said.
"We envisaged (possibly losing) the first two games, but not by this amount.
"We can still make the quarter-finals. The sooner the better we start winning and getting momentum into the next games.
"We have to turn things round quickly, we need to start winning games of cricket."
Southee's figures were the best by a New Zealand bowler in one-day internationals, while McCullum broke his own record for the fastest half-century in a World Cup.
The former expects England to bounce back after admitting they caught the Black Caps on an 'almost perfect' day.
"It was a pretty amazing day, when you think back on it," hSouthee said. "It was almost the perfect performance.
"We knew England were a quality side, they still are a quality side, and playing the way we did it's a good sign for us.
"I'm sure they will bounce back from this performance, they've got some world-class players."
