Scotland almost caused an upset in their last World Cup warm-up game, falling three runs short of West Indies’ 313 for nine at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
At 300 for five in the 48th over, Scotland were in with a shout of a notable win that would have consigned the Windies to two warm-up defeats from two after their loss to England.
Yet Kemar Roach struck twice and Andre Russell once in the closing overs as the innings finished on 310 for nine.
Scotland’s chase was built on 96 from Kyle Coetzer and Richie Berrington’s 66.
Denesh Ramdin and Lendl Simmons, who made 88 and 55 respectively, earlier shared the game’s only century partnership to boost West Indies.
Ireland responded to Tuesday’s heavy defeat to Scotland with victory over Bangladesh by four wickets at the Blacktown Olympic Park Oval in Sydney.
Three wickets each for John Mooney and Max Sorensen limited the Tigers to 189 all out in the 49th over, Soumya Sarkar top-scoring with 45.
Ed Joyce’s 47 and 63 not out from Andy Balbirnie saw Ireland to a morale-boosting win with 3.1 overs to spare.
