A groundbreaking new coaching course in Hampshire has seen the number of women’s cricket coaches continue to rise.

The Hampshire Cricket Board have launched a ‘Women and Girls Strategy’ which aims to increase the number of female Level 2 coaches in the county, to be able to provide improved support to schools, clubs and the county programme.

For the first time, they are running an all-female Level 2 coaching course across four weekends at PerinsSchool and New Alredford.

Hampshire Cricket Board development manager, Michael Pollard said: “The fact that we’ve had the demand to run an all female Level 2 coaching course just shows how popular women’s cricket currently is in Hampshire.Hampshire Cricket Board have launched a new course which has seen the number of women's cricket coaches rise in the area

“It’s fantastic to see the enthusiasm and confidence in their ability to coach and we are hopeful that this is just the start as we look to continue to increase participation in cricket amongst females in the county.”

Natasha Marisa, one of the attendees, praised the initiative, saying: “The coaching course is really good and a good way of getting more women involved in cricket. I have always thoroughly enjoyed coaching because the reward you feel when you see someone improve.
