David Warner and Glenn Maxwell both blasted rapid centuries as Australia, England’s first opponents at the World Cup, heaped more misery on India with a thumping 106-run warm-up victory at the Adelaide Oval.
Opening batsman Warner struck an 83-ball 104 and Maxwell, with 11 fours and eight sixes, compiled 122 off just 57 deliveries as Tri-Series winners Australia were dismissed for 371 in the penultimate over after winning the toss.
The latter, who is set to play for Yorkshire in this season’s NatWest T20 Blast, completed his ton in just 53 balls and, after hitting a four and three sixes in his next four deliveries, retired out.
India, without a win since arriving in Australia in November, were dismissed for 265 in the 46th over despite half-centuries from Shikhar Dhawan,Ajinkya Rahane and Ambati Rayudu.
Pat Cummins led the way with 3-30 while fellow pacemen Mitchell Starc,Mitchell Johnson and Josh Hazlewood all took two apiece.
