Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor hit a century apiece as New Zealand wrapped up a series victory over Pakistan at McLean Park.
The Black Caps’ momentum continued to gather pace ahead of the World Cup as they recorded a commanding 119-run win to seal the two-match one-day international rubber 2-0.
After Williamson and Taylor, playing his 150th ODI, combined to rack up 369 for five, Pakistan never looked likely to chase it down despite posting 111 for the first wicket.
Mohammed Hafeez and Ahmed Shehzad each made fifties but the lower-order fell away to give New Zealand a third consecutive series win.
After choosing to bat first, Brendon McCullum gave the innings some impetus with a rapid 31, before Martin Guptill put on 128 for the second wicket with Williamson.
Guptill fell for 76 but the Black Caps number three continued his stunning run of form with an 80-ball century, his sixth in ODIs, with Taylor reaching three figures from the final delivery of the innings with his 13th boundary to go with two sixes in a 70-ball knock.
Grant Elliott helped provide a late flurry of runs with two maximums in a knock of 28, damaging the figures of Bilawal Bhatti who finished with 0-93.
Hafeez and Shehzad got the reply off to a good start but their partnership was always falling behind the rate and they subsequently left too much for the lower-order to do.
Once Hafeez fell for 86, only Misbah-ul-Haq contributed significantly with a patient 45. Shahid Afridi and Umar Akmal were unable to accelerate as the New Zealand bowlers shared out the wickets and Pakistan crumbled to 250 all out.
Daniel Vettori was his usual miserly self with an excellent spell of 1-41 from 10 overs, while Tim Southee, Adam Milne, Nathan McCullum and Elliott all took two wickets.
Thanks for all the messages. Much appreciated. Big congrats to Kane and @Martyguptill on a great partnership too. Now for the #WorldCup2015
