Stuart Broad’s golf game “has it all”, according to victorious Europe Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley.
Before flying to Australia for the Tri-Series and World Cup, Broad met with McGinley at Wentworth Golf Club to get some tips at an event arranged by Investec.
The Irishman, who guided Europe to Ryder Cup glory in September, was impressed by the England fast bowler.
“Technically, I would probably give him eight out of ten, which is a very high level,” McGinley said.
“What he needs to do is have a little bit more feel and intuition when he plays the game, a little bit more awareness of the club head as he swings it because technically he has it all, but this game is about more than just technique. It’s about being in control of what you’re doing.”

Broad said: “I had Paul look at my swing. I was quite obviously not aligned properly. My feet and hips were okay but my shoulders were facing midwicket. That was a quick change to make.
“I’ve been very fortunate to have an expert eye. Paul showed his experience of not diving in and trying to change my whole swing. It was just picking up on certain things that could help me in the future.
“I then went out to have a crack at a hole-in-one. I needed probably a few too many balls to get on the green that I should have done, but I loved the experience. (It was) a great opportunity to have a legend like this come in and look at your swing.”
As for Broad’s fortunes Down Under, McGinley said: “I’ll certainly be keeping a very close eye on the World Cup, and next to Ireland I’ll be cheering for England!”
