Bangladesh have included Soumya Sarkar, Nasir Hossain and Taskin Ahmed in their 15-man squad for the World Cup.
Nasir and Taskin have been recalled after missing the recent one-day international series victory over Zimbabwe in December, while Sarker made his debut in the final game of the rubber but did enough to win over the selectors.
Taijul Islam, who burst on to the international scene with an eight-wicket haul against Zimbabwe in the Test series and a hat-trick on his ODI bow, is also included.
Nine players in total will be making their first appearances at a World Cup, but experienced left-arm spinner Abdur Razzaq has been left out despite being Bangladesh’s all-time leading wicket-taker in ODIs.
Mashrafe Mortaza has been named captain of the side after enjoying a winning start in the role and Shakib Al Hasan is also retained as his deputy.
Chief selector Faruk Ahmed told Bangladesh's official website: "We opted for experience, hence the inclusion of the domestic veteran Arafat Sunny in the squad. With Shakib, Taijul and Arafat, we have the left-arm spinning trio who has a proven record of winning matches together.”
He added: “Soumya Sarkar’s inclusion was totally based on his recent form in the domestic league, and also the lack of form of some of his competitors for the spot.”
Bangladesh World Cup squad: Tamim Iqbal, Anamul Haque, Soumya Sarkar, Mominul Haque, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah, Nasir Hossain, Sabbir Rahman, Mashrafe Mortaza (captain), Taskin Ahmed, Al-Amin Hossain, Rubel Hossain, Arafat Sunny, Taijul Islam.
