Kent will open a brand new chapter in their 145-year history next year after appointing their first female president elect.
Rose Leigh-Pemberton, Lady Kingsdown OBE will take the reins in 2015, at a county that already boasts England Women captain Charlotte Edwards.
Lady Kingsdown’s elevation will follow the tenures of 130 male presidents at the club, and she will replace Graham Johnson in the role.
“To be president of Kent is the next greatest honour to being given the OBE by the Queen,” she told the Kent official website.

“I am optimistic about the growth of the women’s game with Kent and England at the forefront and I am thrilled that in my year as president we shall be hosting the Women’s Ashes Test.
“What an opportunity to showcase the women’s game and I feel it will be a wonderful chance for me to show that male or female, we all have the game of cricket at heart, and as much pleasure can be gained from watching both teams.
“We are in exciting times with many good young homegrown players and our women’s team a beacon in the game.”
The appointment is set to be a further boost for the club, which earlier this month announced a single body for the delivery and development of all cricket from grassroots to elite level.
