Hampshire’s Sean Terry, Tom Alsop and Lewis McManus have all signed new contracts, keeping them at the Ageas Bowl until the end of the 2016 season.

The contracts of all three players were due to expire at the end of 2015, but the trio have re-committed to the LV= County Championship Division Two winners.

Hampshire director of cricket Giles White said: “All three are talented young players and will be hoping to push for a place in the starting line-up.

“The important thing is for them to develop their games and we are looking forward to seeing them progress over the next two years.”

Terry, 23, who is currently playing for Melville in Perth during the off-season, made his debut for Hampshire in April 2012.

Having overcome an early-season injury, Sean Terry impressed for Hampshire in the first year of the Royal London One-Day CupDespite suffering a frustrating start to the 2014 campaign due to injury, the right-hander impressed in the Royal London One-Day Cup campaign, averaging 42 across four innings.

Terry said: “I am over the moon to be signing an extension at Hampshire - the club has some really exciting and challenging times ahead and it’s great to know I will be around to be a part of it."

Wicketkeeper-batsman Alsop burst onto the scene in 2013 at the age of 17 when he was called upon to keep during Hampshire Royals’ Yorkshire Bank 40 match against Lancashire Lightning at the Ageas Bowl following an injury to Adam Wheater.

After continuing to impress for Hampshire Second XI and England Under-19s during the 2014 season, the left-hand batsman made his first-class debut for the club versus Kent in September’s championship game. He also featured as a specialist batsman against Glamorgan when Hampshire sealed promotion and the Division Two title.

Alsop said: “It’s really nice that the club have shown faith in me and hopefully I can make the most of the opportunity. The aim is to keep developing my game in the second XI and look to cement a place in the first team over the next few years.”

Wicketkeeper-batsman McManus, 20, has come through the ranks from the Hampshire Academy and has regularly impressed both behind the stumps and with the bat for the second XI during 2014.

The right-hand batsman showed his potential for a bright future with the club after hitting back-to-back centuries in a friendly for Hampshire against Cardiff MCCU in May.

McManus said: “I’m really happy to have signed a new deal – I was pleased with how I played last year and it was great to be a part of a championship-winning team.

“It’s going to be difficult due to the strength of the team at the moment, but hopefully I can push for a first-team place over the next couple of years.”
