England opening batsmen Matt Dean and Luke Sugg both picked up awards for their performances at the Blind World Cup in South Africa.
Skipper Dean was named the best B2 batsman of the tournament, in which Ross Hunter’s side were beaten in the semi-finals by runners-up Pakistan, while vice-captain Sugg took the honours in the B3 category.
Sugg was the leading run-scorer in the tournament, compiling 589 at an average of 147.3 including four centuries.
Dean, captaining England in a major tournament for the first time, weighed in with 247 runs at an average of 41.2.
Warwickshire Bear Sugg told ecb.co.uk:“It’s a great honour personally, and probably the best series of my career so far.
“It’s a great stepping stone for the summer, where I can hopefully continue my form.
“It’s also a great team game and was great to have our captain Matthew receiving the B2 batsman of the tournament. We have a great set up going forward.”
Sugg also collected his man-of-the-match award for an unbeaten 162 off just 122 deliveries in the opening defeat of hosts South Africa.
Other members of the squad to be rewarded for their performances were Dan Field and Justin Hollingsworth.
Field, leading the side for the first time in place of the rested Dean, hit a remarkable 58-ball 123 to set up the friendly victory over Bangladesh.
Hollingsworth starred in the triumph over Australia that confirmed England’s place in the last four, hitting 144 off 119 balls.
