England spinner James Tredwell says that the squad has been frustrated by an inconsistent start to the tour of Sri Lanka.
Despite some impressive individual performances, England find themselves 2-0 behind in the seven-match one-day international series following the eight-wicket loss on Saturday.
With the World Cup looming large at the beginning of 2015, Tredwell accepts that things haven’t been going as planned, but thinks they have shown signs of what they are capable of.
He said: "It is frustrating for everyone really.
"Maybe some of our skills may not be up to scratch, and that is what we're trying to put right.
"We're all working as hard as we can - and when things don't go right, it is not a nice feeling for the individual doing it as well as those watching.
"We're trying as hard as we can to get things right, and if we get everything right in the same game we're going to hurt people."
However, Tredwell says they will not go about their business any differently despite the recent setbacks.
He said: "We don't want to change our method a great deal; we want to assess it a bit better."
England have travelled to Hambantota ahead of the third game of the series on Wednesday, and the 32-year-old hopes it will mean a new start for the squad.
He said: "I guess the hope is that we can start again.
"The games come thick and fast on these tours, so it is sometimes hard to do that. But a change of scenery might bring a change of luck."
Meanwhile, Chris Woakes missed training due to an ongoing stomach upset, but is hoping to be available for Wednesday’s game.
