Skipper Chris Read has continued his long affiliation with Nottinghamshire by signing a one-year contract extension.
The 36-year-old, who made his first-class debut for Notts in 1998, will remain at Trent Bridge until the end of the 2016 season.
The former England wicketkeeper has been a consistent performer for Notts, compiling 14,191 first-class runs since his bow 16 years ago.
He struck 877 of those runs in the LV= County Championship in 2014, averaging 43.85, whilst also claiming 54 catches.
Read, heading into the latter stages of his career, has already started planning for life after cricket.
The Devon-born player, a consultant for the United Arab Emirates national team, is currently training for his ECB level four coaching qualification and has his own coaching academy.
He said: “I'd like to play on for the next two seasons as a bare minimum.
"At this stage in my career I do take it year by year. Having had a decent season last year and enjoyed playing in an exciting team, I'm keen to help us grow and win trophies over the next couple of years."
Nottinghamshire director of cricket Mick Newell added: “Chris was keen to extend his contract and I was happy to oblige because he’s a key player for us and still leads the way in his approach to matches and training.
“He has a lot of cricket left in him and I fully expect him to sign a further extension when the time is right.”
