England and Kent spinner James Tredwell has put pen to paper on a contract extension to keep him at the club beyond 2015.
The 32-year-old, who is due to fly out to Sri Lanka with the England squad in the next week, has been at the Spitfire Ground, Canterbury, since progressing through the age-group system.
Tredwell has taken 328 first class wickets for Kent since making his debut in 2001, but was forced to spend time at Sussex this year after the emergence of Adam Riley meant that his opportunities in red-ball cricket were limited.
He has also emerged as an integral part of the England one-day squad as they build up to the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand next year. The off-spinner has taken over 55 wickets for his country at an impressive average of just over 25, while also boasting a measly economoy rate of 4.77.
Tredwell's contract had been due to expire at the end of next season, but he was keen to continue his career with Rob Key's side, saying: “I am delighted to secure my future here at Kent.
"I have been here all my career and it was great to return after my time away with Sussex this year.
“The future at Kent looks really exciting with lots of home-grown players coming through and I hope to play a part in success going forward.
“Like all the Kentish guys, I am very proud to have come through the system and play for my home county but our ambitions don’t stop there.
“Getting to the Royal London One-Day Cup semis was encouraging but we need to keep progressing as individuals and as a team.
“I think if we can tighten up in a few areas, we can get the consistency we need to be successful.”
