Sussex opener Luke Wells has signed a new two-year contract with the LV= County Championship Division One club.
The 23-year-old has established himself at the top of the Sussex order since their promotion, and his four-day debut, coincided during the 2010 season.
Last summer Wells, who was born in Eastbourne, struck 942 championship runs and finished the season with 162 against Northamptonshire at Wantage Road.
“I'm obviously pleased to finally put pen to paper and get things sorted,” Wells said.
“I absolutely love the club and I've been walking round here for as long as I can remember.
"I'm very proud to represent Sussex and hope I will be able to do so for many years in the future, to bring success to both the club and myself.”
Sussex skipper Ed Joyce welcomed Wells’ deal, adding: “It is great news that Luke has decided to stay with Sussex for the foreseeable future. Not many 23-year-olds already have eight first-class centuries to their name.
“There is still so much scope for development and improvement, especially in white-ball cricket.
“He's also a local boy and lives and breathes Sussex cricket and I know our fans will be very happy that he's decided to stay with us.”
Wells’ new contract, which keeps him at Hove until 2016, comes after the club's recent moves to bolster their fast-bowling stocks with the signatures of Tymal Mills and Ajmal Shahzad.
Very glad to have signed at Sussex again! Here's to more moments like this! #GOSBTShttp://t.co/sfCnliry5N
