The International Cricket Council board has approved cut-off dates for qualification to the 2017 Champions Trophy and the 2019 World Cup, both of which will be held in England and Wales.

The dates for World Cup qualification are particularly notable given it will be a 10-team tournament, down from 14 at the 2011 and 2015 events.

The top eight teams in the ICC one-day international rankings on September 30 2017 will qualify automatically for the 2019 competition. The ninth- and 10th-placed teams will enter a qualifying tournament held in Bangladesh during 2018 to determine the two other qualifiers.

The top-eight teams in the ODI rankings on September 30 2015 will qualify for the 2017 Champions Trophy.

The ICC board, which was meeting in Dubai today and yesterday, confirmed the Decision Review System will be used at the 2015 World Cup.

The board also announced there will be reserve days for the knockout stages only but no super overs. In case of a tied quarter-final and semi-final, the side finishing in the higher position in the group stage will progress. If the final is tied or if the match is a no-result, then the teams will be declared joint-winners.
