Chris Rogers would love to see out his career with another Ashes series win, as the Middlesex batsman gears up to lead Australia’s charge next summer.
The left-hander registered two centuries and three fifties during Australia’s 5-0 Ashes victory last winter, and is looking forward to another tussle against England when the two sides meet in 2015.
Rogers recently helped Middlesex stave off relegation in the LV= County Championship.
However, the 37-year-old - part of the Australia side that lost the first Test against Pakistan in United Arab Emirates on Sunday - admits he is reaching the twilight of his career.
Speaking exclusively to ecb.co.uk, Rogers said: “I’ve not too much left in terms of my career, so I try to make the most of it as I can.
“Without a doubt it (the Ashes) would be a great way to finish I think.
“It was very enjoyable to be part of it last year. We can come back here with a bit more confidence and more of a hope to win the series.
“If we did that it would be fantastic and would be the icing on the cake.”
Rogers’ efforts for Middlesex saw him score two key double-hundreds, most notably against eventual champions Yorkshire.
The Australia international smashed an unbeaten 241 off 290 deliveries in April as Middlesex remarkably chased down 472 to win by seven wickets.
It was their highest fourth-innings total at Lord's, and Rogers also made 203 not out in September against Somerset at Taunton to help Middlesex draw the game.
Rogers then scored 33 and 21 in Middlesex’s final game, which helped secure their Division One status at the expense of Lancashire.
