Leicestershire have confirmed that a re-modelled coaching structure at Grace Road will not include the role of director of cricket, currently held by Phil Whitticase.
Whitticase has, however, not left the club with discussions still being held over his future.
Leicestershire conducted a review of their structure in the wake of another disappointing season when they failed to win an LV= County Championship match for a second year.
“Leicestershire is aware that there has been speculation about the director of cricket position at Grace Road,” a statement read.
“Leicestershire can confirm that following the cricket review, the position of director of cricket is being out-structured, but Phil Whitticase has not left the club.
“The club is currently involved in discussions with Phil about the future.”
The Foxes’ cricket review is set to be discussed at a members forum at Grace Road this evening with the club stating it would make no further comment before then.
