New Somerset director of cricket Matthew Maynard has been drafted in to help Scotland prepare for next year’s World Cup.
The 48-year-old, a former assistant coach for England, will provide additional coaching during a nine-day batting camp at the International Cricket Council Academy in Dubai, starting on November 11.

Former Glamorgan skipper Maynard, appointed in his new role at Taunton last week, said: “I’m delighted to be able to join up with Cricket Scotland to help the boys prepare for the 2015 Cricket World Cup.

“It is an exciting time for Cricket Scotland and the camp in Dubai will offer a great learning experience for the players and coaches alike.”
Scotland head coach Grant Bradburn added: “We’re delighted to welcome Matt to the Scotland set-up for the batting camp at the ICC Academy in Dubai.
“With his excellent track record it’s a great opportunity for the players to work on different aspects of their batting, furthering the learning process of what we have gained during our current tour to Australia and New Zealand.”
