Stuart Broad updates us on his recovery from knee surgery

Stuart Broadremains confident he will be fit for England’s build-up to the World Cup after undergoing surgery on his right knee last month.

Broad went under the knife on September 4 to fix a problem that had ailed him for the best part of a year.

His recovery has so far gone to plan and the 28-year-old hopes he might even be able to join an England Lions camp before flying out to Australia on January 6.

“The knee is coming on well, it’s nearly a month since I’ve had surgery,” he told ecb.co.uk.

“I’m back in the gym doing certain bits of weights now and hoping to maybe get on a camp pre-Christmas with the Lions. The 6th of January is my aim to get on that flight (to Australia).”

England are due to play Australia and India in a tri-series before their World Cup campaign begins against Michael Clarke’s side at the MCG on February 14.

And while Broad will not pull on and England shirt before then – he will definitely miss the upcoming seven-match one-day international series in Sri Lanka– the 14-week rehabilitation period should ensure he is at the peak of his powers in the new year.

He added: “I planned it really carefully and I should be in good stead to go on that flight.”
