Former England Under-19 international Tom Knight has signed a new one-year deal with Derbyshire.
The 21-year-old, a graduate of the Cricket Derbyshire Academy, has impressed in second XI cricket while also making his mark in the first team during the limited-overs competitions.
The all-rounder, a destructive batsman and left-arm spinner, featured in seven NatWest T20 Blast fixtures, hitting a brutal 44 from just 18 deliveries against Northants Steelbacks, and one Royal London One-Day Cup match.
Derbyshire's elite performance director Graeme Welch said: “Tom is a home-grown player with great potential.
“The lad has had a tough season while evolving his action, which I’m sure he and the club will reap rewards from in the future.
“We have, meanwhile, seen a huge improvement in his batting with that rapid innings against Northants and several good knocks for the second XI.
“Tom’s development will continue over the winter – working closely with Ant Botha and our coaching staff – and I’m sure we’ll see more of him in 2015.”
