James Vince and Sean Ervine both scored vital centuries as promotion-hopefuls Hampshire recovered from a dire start on the first day of their LV= County Championship Division Two clash with Glamorgan.
Vince and Ervine put on 225 for the sixth wicket in 63 overs after the visitors to Cardiff, who won the toss, had been reduced to 51 for five.
Second-placed Hampshire, who finished the day on 347 all out in their first innings, started the match 10 points ahead of rivals Essex.
Victory will be enough for Hampshire but, if they draw, Essex will come into the mix.
After the visitors elected to bat first, Jim Allenby recorded a spell of 4-22 to knock over most of the Hampshire top order.

With only his second ball of the match Will Smith edged behind giving wicketkeeper Mark Wallace a regulation catch, leaving Hampshire 17 for one.
And only three deliveries later that became 17 for two when Liam Dawson edged a catch to Dean Cosker at gully to hand Allenby a double wicket-maiden.
Vince showed some resistance with a series of fours but he lost Jimmy Adams, who edged Graham Wagg behind where Wallace took a fine diving catch in front of the slip cordon.
And the wickets continued to tumble as 53 for three suddenly became 53 for five.
First Tom Alsop knicked a rising delivery from Allenby to Cosker in the gully before Adam Wheater went lbw shouldering arms next ball.

But Hampshire regrouped impressively either side of lunch, although Vince was dropped at square-leg on 47 by David Lloyd off Michael Hogan.
Vince, who reached 50 from 65 balls, went to his fourth championship century of the season from 134 balls with 17 fours, and Ervine got to his fifty off 59 deliveries.
They reached tea at 233 for five having taken their partnership to 180 in 43 overs and had got to 278 for six before Glamorgan launched a late fightback.
That began when Vince holed out on the boundary off Kieran Bull, departing for 144 from 214 balls with 21 fours.
Ervine, who reached his century from 174 deliveries, was caught behind off Wagg to leave Hampshire 310 for seven.
Hogan polished off the tail to take the final wickets to deny Hampshire a fourth batting point.
