Promising wicketkeeper-batsman Stephen Eskinazi has been rewarded for his excellent second XI form with a one-year deal at Middlesex.
The Johannesburg-born 20-year-old, who has spent the last two years on a scholarship contract, has been Middlesex’s top second XI run-scorer for the past two seasons, amassing more than 2,100 runs. He has taken almost 100 catches and stumpings for the county during this time.
Eskinazi has also had two outstanding campaigns playing for Stanmore in the Middlesex County Cricket League. In 2013 he won the player of the year award and in 2014 he was once again the top run-scorer in the league.
Middlesex's managing director of Cricket Angus Fraser said: "It has been very satisfying to see Stephen continue to develop and make progress as a cricketer.
“He is a very dedicated and motivated young man and we are delighted to have him on board.
“Stephen has worked extremely hard since arriving with us from Australia and he thoroughly deserves this new deal. If he continues to improve it will not be long before he is putting first team players under pressure for their positions."
