Misbah-ul-Haq will captain Pakistan at next year's World Cup and Shahid Afridi has been named as his country’s Twenty20 skipper up to and including the 2016 World Twenty20.
Incumbent Test and one-day international captain Misbah, a veteran batsman at 40, was confirmed today in his position for the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand early next year.
The Pakistan Cricket Board also announced that all-rounder Afridi, another player with vast experience, will take over the Twenty20 captaincy following Mohammad Hafeez's resignation after the last global tournament in Bangladesh during March.
Afridi will take over immediately while Test and one-day skipper Misbah retains his two leadership roles.
