6.45pm - Here’s how things stand at the halfway stage in this pivotal round of LV= County Championship fixtures. Join us again tomorrow.

Division One

Yorkshire enjoyed a superb day at Trent Bridge and took potential decisive strides towards the title, racking up 532 for nine declared before reducing Nottinghamshire to 58 for four.

Sussex edged ahead of Lancashire at the BrightonandHoveJobs.com County Ground as they closed on 341 for seven, a first-innings lead of 21 thanks largely to Ed Joyce’s superb 137

Durham are 28 for one in their second innings, a lead of 129 over Middlesex. The home team were 276 all out at Lord's as Dawid Malan hit 97.

Jonathan Trott and Sam Hain will look to add to fabulous unbeaten centuries when Warwickshire resume on 413 for three - a lead of 140 over Northamptonshire at Edgbaston.

Division Two

Worcestershire closed on 12 without loss in their second innings against Surrey at New Road - a deficit of 122. Jason Roy scored 103 and Jack Shantry took 6-87 in the visitors’ 406 all out.

Essex will need 22 to complete victory tomorrow morning after bowling out Kent for 151 in their second innings. Earlier at the Essex County Ground, James Foster scored 108 in his team’s first-innings 328 and Darren Stevens claimed 5-83.

Leicestershire openers Greg Smith and Angus Robson hit 103 and 97 respectively to help their side close on 246 for two at Bristol, still 400 behind hosts Gloucestershire. Earlier, Alex Gidman hit a career-best 264 and was then the first wicket to fall in an Atif Sheikh hat-trick.

Glamorgan are 145 for five in their second innings at the SWALEC Stadium - a lead of 224 over Derbyshire, for whom Wayne White has 4-27.

6.33pm - Tredwell drives Napier to Jaik Mickleburgh at long-on. That’s it for the day and Essex will address a 22-run victory target tomorrow morning. Stumps have also been drawn in the Welsh capital.

6.23pm - Tom Westley’s first over of off-spin does the trick as Adam Riley departs for 21. Kent’s ninth-wicket stand was worth 45 and they are 21 ahead.

6.19pm - White strikes again! Chris Cooke is bowled for 36 and Glamorgan are 141 for five.

6.12pm - White has his third wicket of the innings as Jim Allenby falls caught behind for 43. Glamorgan lead by 220 with six wickets in hand; Derbyshire have five more overs tonight to make further inroads.

Durham reach stumps for no further loss and lead Middlesex by 129.

6.10pm - They’re into the extra half hour at Chelmsford but the scores are now level, with James Tredwell’s counter-attacking 24 not out largely responsible.

6.02pm - The games at Lord’s, the SWALEC Stadium and Essex County Ground are the only ones still going on. Of course, we could have a result in the latter. We will have a close of play summary with you shortly.

5.41pm - That’s stumps at Trent Bridge, where Michael Lumb has 35 not out but Nottinghamshire have a mountain to climb on 58 for eight in response to Yorkshire’s first-innings 532 for nine declared.

Warwickshire and Leicestershire head back inside on a much more agreeable scores of 413 for three 246 for two respectively.

Darren Stevens falls to Panesar, caught by Ryder and Kent are 101 for seven - still 29 runs from making Essex bat again.

5.31pm - Trott and Hain’s sensational alliance brings a fifth batting bonus point for Warwickshire, who need a maximum points victory to retain their title chances.

Durham opener Keaton Jennings bags a pair - bowled by Tim Murtagh as he was in the first innings.

5.22pm - Slightly short-lived joy, as it turns out. Shantry has Roy caught by Alexei Kervezee for 103 to end with 6-87 and Surrey are all out for 406 - a 134-run lead after the first-innings.

Napier strikes again at the Essex County Ground as Panesar takes Sam Billings for nought at mid-on. Kent are six down and still 51 behind, with an innings defeat very much on the cards.

5.18pm - Toby Roland-Jones falls one shy of a half-century as Paul Collingwood wins an lbw verdict. Those were very useful runs for Middlesex, who are 276 for nine and 101 behind.

Relief and joy for Roy as he goes through to his hundred. Dernbach has even weighed in with a four of his own as Surrey pass 400.

5.13pm - Usman Khawaja produces a direct hit to run out Yardy for 14 and Sussex have lost four for 14 from Joyce’s dismissal.

5.09pm - Matt Dunn is the latest Surrey tailender to fall without scoring as Moeen Ali gets among the wickets. Roy remains on 97 but has only Jade Dernbach for company from this point.

5.04pm - Five wickets for Shantry, who has ripped through Surrey brilliantly this evening to just about keep Division Two leaders Worcestershire in the contest. Stuart Meaker is lbw for nought and the visitors are 393 for eight, ahead by 121. They were 373 for four before Shantry got to work.

5.02pm - Smith went through to his century before being dismissed lbw by Craig Miles for 103. Leicestershire are 217 for two - a deficit of 429 despite their openers’ heroics.

4.59pm - Superb line and length once again from Brooks and Samit Patel is on his way after the third umpire confirms Ballance took a fine low slip catch cleanly. Yorkshire are absolutely rampant as Wessels trudges out to take guard.

Brendan Nash edges Monty Panesar behind to James Foster and Kent’s restorative third-wicket partnership is at an end.

Chapple has Ben Brown pouched by Jos Buttler for a duck and, as they did yesterday, Lancashire are battling back well after tea on the south coast.

4.48pm - The ball seems to be following Croft at the BrightonandHoveJobs.com County Ground. This time he holds on at second slip off Glen Chapple as the second new ball sees off Luke Wright for 22.

One brings two for Worcestershire as Surrey skipper Wilson sends a return catch back to Jack Shantry for 77 and Aneesh Kapil falls in the same bowler’s next over.

AND ANOTHER FOR YORKSHIRE! Two in the over for Ryan Sidebottom and another duck as James Taylor’s airy drive is taken by Gary Ballance in the cordon. Significantly, a first bowling bonus point for Yorkshire means Notts must win to retain their title ambitions. All the best with that at 12 for three and 520 behind!

At Bristol, Robson is run out for 97. Smith is two away from a century he might bring up slightly sheepishly.

4.36pm - Edged and gone - a superb delivery from Jack Brooks snares Alex Hales caught behind for nought and Yorkshire’s bowlers are up and running in style.

4.34pm - In another huge partnership, Roy and Wilson have added 150 and counting for Surrey’s fifth wicket.

Glamorgan would welcome something like that right now as Derbyshire’s fightback continues. Alex Hughes has Will Bragg caught behind and the score is 63 for three.

4.31pm - Leicestershire’s huge opening stand is now at 191. Robson is on 86, meaning he brings up 1,000 championship runs for the summer.

Intent from Mullaney and Notts early in their reply as the opener drives the first ball to the rope and picks up four more through third man.

4.28pm - Joyce’s brilliant innings ends down at Hove. He departs for 137 having batted for 13 minutes shy of five hours. Croft is the catcher once more, this time at point off Tom Smith. Michael Yardy is the new man in and Sussex are 30 behind with six wickets in hand.

4.23pm - Sure enough, Hain joins Trott in raising his bat at Edgbaston. The 19-year-old now has three tons in an excellent debut first-class campaign. Warwickshire are 335 for three and lead Northants by 62.

4.20pm - Glamorgan have lost the first wicket of their second innings, with Jacques Rudolph lbw to Wayne White for 29. The hosts are 61 for one and lead Derbyshire by 140.

Tim Bresnan gets a thick inside edge to be caught by Riki Wessels off Steven Mullaney five shy of a century. Bresnan’s dismissal brings the Yorkshire declaration on 532 for nine.

4.15pm - Durham seamer Chris Rushworth pins Paul Stirling lbw for his third wicket of the innings. Middlesex are still 175 behind and the follow-on is a growing possibility.

Century for Trott! It’s a second first-class ton of the year for the popular batsman, coming from 176 balls and featuring 13 fours and a maximum.

4.09pm - Ollie Rayer nicks John Hastings to Scott Borthwick at second slip and Middlesex are seven down. New batsman Toby Roland-Jones brings up the 200.

4.04pm - Joanthan Trott and Sam Hain are both poised on 93 amid an excellent stand of 177 for Warwickshire’s fourth wicket. Who will win the race to three figures?

3.58pm - Cachopa is unable to add to his 50 as James Anderson encourages an edge to second slip, where Steven Croft makes no mistake. Lancashire desperately need that wicket to be a catalyst.

3.55pm - David Masters has Ben Harmison caught at the wicket and Kent are seven for two, trailing by 123.

3.50pm - Jason Roy goes through to his fifty in typically brisk fashion. The Surrey man has 56 from 59 deliveries with 10 fours.

3.37pm - Early second-innings breakthrough for Essex as Jesse Ryder traps Daniel Bell-Drummond lbw and that’s the last thing Kent needed, as they nurse a 130-run first-innings deficit.

3.23pm - Batting truly is a glorious pastime at Bristol this week. Smith and Robson have 69 and 58 respectively as Leicestershire go to lunch on 135 without loss in response to Gloucestershire’s mammoth first-innings total.

3.20pm - After getting Dexter, Peter Chase traps John Simpson lbw and it’s been a truly wretched few minutes for Middlesex. Tea can’t come soon enough for the hosts.

One team glad to be back inside are Lancashire after another dominant session from Sussex at the BrightonandHoveJobs.com County Ground. Joyce is 117 and Craig Cachopa is closing in on his own half-century.

3.10pm - Neil Dexter falls on the brink of tea for Middlesex, who have been pegged back to 174 for five by Durham late on in the session.

3.07pm -  Malan falls just short of 100, as he's caught behind to give Stokes a second wicket on 97.

Essex are all out for 328, with Monty Panesar getting a first-ball duck and handing Stevens figures of 5-83.

3.03pm - Steve Patterson pads up to a looping delivery from Gary Keedy and is adjudged lbw to give the veteran left-armer five wickets.

2.56pm - David Masters doesn't last long before becoming Darren Stevens' fourth wicket. Mitchell Clayton also has four as Foster is finally dismissed for 108, leaving Essex nine down.

Leicestershire have started well in reply to Gloucestershire's mammoth 646. Angus Robson and Greg Smith have put on 100 so far for the first wicket.

2.47pm - Warwickshire are closing in on Northamptonshire's first innings total as they look to keep their slim title hopes alive. Sam Hain has passed 50, but Napier has fallen for 62 at Chelmsford.

2.32pm - Ed Joyce brings up his sixth century of the season. A pull shot in front of square takes Joyce into three figures from 144 deliveries.

James Foster has also reached 100. A first of the season for the Essex skipper, who has helped his team past 300 with the help of Graham Napier, who subsequently passes fifty himself.

2.26pm - Kieran Bull was hit for 18 in his first over, but comes back well, getting David Wainwright with the first ball of his second to leave Derbyshire eight down.

Tony Palladino follows next ball! Bull on a hat-trick...could it be the second of the day?!

2.10pm - Davies' aggressive innings comes to an end, and Chris Nash has also fallen after reaching a half-century, to Simon Kerrigan's eighth delivery of the innings.

Derbyshire are struggling on 131 for seven as Alex Hughes is adjudged lbw to Graham Wagg.

1.43pm - Dawid Malan and Steve Davies have reached half-centuries but Rashid has fallen just short of one of his own, after clipping to mid-wicket.

Eoin Morgan is also on his way to the pavilion, caught in the slips off Ben Stokes and the counter-attack from Gareth Cross is over as Michael Hogan traps him in front for 30.

1.32pm - Rory Burns has fallen nine runs shy of a century at New Road, becoming Mitchell McClenaghan's second victim of the innings.

1.20pm - We're back under way around the grounds after lunch. Adil Rashid and Tim Bresnan have a boundary apiece at Trent Bridge as Yorkshire look to build on a solid morning's work.

Division One

Gary Ballance fell one run short of a century, becoming one of Gary Keedy's four victims, as Yorkshire progressed to 400 for six against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.

Half-centuries from Chris Nash and Ed Joyce helped Sussex to 108 for one after James Anderson removed Luke Wells in the first over of the day. Lancashire made 320 first time around.

Scott Borthwick's 176 was the centre-piece of Durham's 377 as Tim Murtagh grabbed five wickets. Middlesex lost both openers cheaply in their reply to be 70 for two at Lord's.

Warwickshire are 155 for three as they set about running down Northamptonshire's 273 at Edgbaston.

Division Two

Surrey opener Rory Burns moved past 1,000 championship runs for the season as he was unbeaten on 88 in his side's 186 for two in reply to Worcestershire's 272.

James Foster's unbeaten 59 helped edge Essex into a 22-run lead at 220 for six against Kent at the Essex County Ground.

Alex Gidman hit career-best 264 and was then the first wicket to fall in an Atif Sheikh hat-trick as Gloucestershire piled up 646 all out - a total that included 68 extras from Leicestershire.

Glamorgan took five morning-session wickets to leave Derbyshire 86 for five at the SWALEC Stadium.

12.29pm - Ed Joyce gets to his half-century just before lunch and with Wells they have now put on a century stand for the second wicket.  We're heading to the first interval around the country. I'll wrap up the scores in a moment.

12.19apm - James Foster reaches his fifty at Chelmsford but then loses partner Kishen Velani caught by James Tredwell off Matt Hunn.

12.17pm - It has been a good morning for Glamorgan and they've picked up a fifth wicket with Allenby getting rid of Wes Durston. Will Porterfield has fallen just shy of a half-century with the economical James Middlebrook getting an lbw decision to reward figures of 7-3-11-1.

12.05pm - A fourth wicket of the innings for Keedy at Trent Bridge as Nottinghamshire start to make their way through that strong Yorkshire order. Jack Leaning is adjudged lbw to a turning delivery on 42.

Chris Nash has reached his half-century at Hove as Sussex have built well after James Anderson took that early wicket to be 90 for one.

11.53am - India's Cheteshwar Pujara begins life in county cricket with just seven as Jim Allenby traps him lbw before Derbyshire skipper Wayne Madsen is also pinned in front by Michael Hogan to leave the visitors 68 for four.

11.39am - On no, Gary Ballance is out for 99. He gets back and across to try and work Gary Keedy away for the single he requires but misses the ball. The umpire was left with a pretty easy decision to make.

11.34am - Atif Sheikh is on a hat-trick. First he ends Gidman's career-best innings with an lbw decision when he was on 264, from 274 balls, and including 38 fours and three sixes. Craig Miles is then bowled next ball....

11.15am - The runs keep flowing for Alex Gidman as he brings up 250. He gets there with his 35th four, off Rob Taylor. Throw in three sixes as well and he has motored along at a good click, reaching the miletsone from 260 balls.

Wagg has a second wicket this morning as Ben Slater fends a short ball to gully. Durham have started well with the ball getting Middlesex skipper Chris Rogers nicking Rushworth behind for eight.

11.03am - Durham have been bowled out for 377. Tim Murtagh picks up his fifth wicket of the innings, to return figures of 5-106, with Chris Rushworth held by Paul Stirling in the deep.

10.50am - Scott Borthwick's magnificent innings has been ended on 176 at Lord's. It takes an England combination to finally send him on his way, with Sam Robson holding onto the catch from Steven Finn's bowling.  John Hastings quickly follows, Finn grabbing another, and Durham are 367 for nine.

Surrey have lost their first wicket with Zafar Ansari caught behind off Mitch McClenghan while Glamorgan have got their first at home to Derbyshire with Graham Wagg trapping Billy Godleman in front.

Gloucestershire are batting on this morning, but have lost Will Gidman to be 525 for six.

10am - Welcome to our live blog from the LV= County Championship where Yorkshire will look to ram home their early advantage with the bat in their potential title-decider against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.
