Durham have boosted their LV= County Championship Division One survival hopes by signing India fast bowler Varun Aaron as a replacement for John Hastings.
The north-east county moved quickly to get cover for their final two championship matches after Hastings was called up by the Chennai Super Kings to play in the Champions League Twenty20.
Aaron's pace and hostility was a feature of the final two Investec Test matches against England and although he only took five wickets, he certainlyleft his mark on Stuart Broad.
The 24-year-old will join his new team-mates at Emirates Durham ICG next week after completing a 10-day fast bowling training programme under the guidance of Australian great Glenn McGrath.
"It's an honour for me to play for Durham," said Aaron.
"I've always wanted to play county cricket in the UK and am looking to playing next season.
"However, I am happy that the opportunity has come sooner and I look forward to joining the rest of the team."
Head coach Jon Lewis said: "He's obviously got some good pace and he's young and keen. We're excited to have him on board."
Reigning champions Durham are fighting relegation from Division One and head into their final two games against Northamptonshire and Warwickshire only 12 points clear of second-bottom Lancashire.
