1.45pm - Ryan Sidebottom has done it again - he's struck with the second ball of the session. It was Paul Horton this morning and this time Luis Reece is on his way as he is also trapped lbw. Reece's 53 has allowed Lancashire to recover somewhat from those two first-over wickets this morning though.
There is also a quick wicket after the break at Lord's where Will Porterfield has been caught in front by Ireland team-mate Tim Murtagh.
1.30pm - A bit of worrying news coming from Surrey's tour match against New Zealand A where Jason Roy has gone to have "precautionary x-rays" on his hand after being hit while batting. He has retired hurt and, just hours after confirmation of his first call-up to the England Twenty20 set-up, hopefully there is no significant damage.
1.15pm - After a busy morning, here's a round-up of the scores at lunch:
Division One
Durham recovered well after losing two quick wickets to reach 101 for three against Nottinghamshire. Ajmal Shahzad took two wickets but Mark Stoneman's defiant half-century kept the title challengers at bay.
Yorkshire made a dream start to the Roses clash with Lancashire, taking two wickets in the first over. The hosts recovered to 121 for three after Ashwell Prince and Luis Reece passed 50.
Warwickshire made solid progress after being put in to bat by Middlesex at Lord's. They reached 93 for two as Neil Dexter struck with two quick wickets before the break.
Northamptonshire won an important toss and reduced Somerset to 81 for four as the wickets tumbled in the morning session. David Willey picked up two wickets for the visitors.
Division Two
Derbyshire's batsmen made a good start against league leaders Worcestershire. The home team reached 96 for one, with Billy Godleman and Wayne Madsen the not-out batsmen.
Leicestershire recovered from a shaky start to reach a respectable 105 for three at the break against Hampshire. Matt Coles struck twice early on but Angus Robson led the recovery and finished the session unbeaten on 46.
Glamorgan may be rueing the decision to bat first against Kent. The visitors struggled to 86 for four, with only Jim Allenby looking at ease against the Kent bowling, before becoming Mitch Claydon's second wicket of the morning.
WICKET. A blow on the stroke of lunch as Stoneman is bowled by Mullaney's second delivery for 55. 96-3 after 26.2 overs.
— Durham Cricket Club (@DurhamCricket) August 31, 2014
12.50pm - Steven Croft has a slice of luck as he's dropped by Kane Williamson at third slip, but there is no such luck for James Hildreth, who can't keep out Andrew Hall as Somerset's poor morning continues.
Jim Allenby got the scoring rate moving along at Glamorgan, but his run-a-ball 44 is ended by Claydon's short ball.
12.46pm - Warwickshire have slipped to 78 for two after Neil Dexter gets his second victim in the form of Ian Westwood, who stuck around without ever really getting going.
12.38pm - The introduction of spin has worked for Andrew Gale as Prince attempts a reverse-sweep and edges Rashid onto his stumps.
UPDATE: Godleman (25*) hits another two fours in an over, the second a lovely pull to the rope; Derbyshire 62-1 (24); Madsen 1* #DERvWOR
— Derbyshire CCC (@DerbyshireCCC) August 31, 2014
12.20pm - After the early successes, Lancashire have regrouped well and forced Yorkshire into the first major bowling change of the day; with the spin of Adil Rashid introduced into the attack.
Prince passes fifty at a good rate with his eighth boundary of the morning, he has led the recovery with Luis Reece very well so far.
12.13pm - The opening partnerships of Derbyshire and Warwickshire are ended as Varun Chopra and Ben Slater fall for the respective teams.
Third one down now as Abell is bowled by Azharullah for 2 and we are 42 for 3.
— Somerset Cricket (@SomersetCCC) August 31, 2014
12pm - Will Bragg and Dan Redfern are the latest batsmen to fall cheaply on what's been a great morning for the bowlers. It's just Warwickshire and Derbyshire's batsmen that remain untroubled so far.
11.53am - Willey has Johann Myburgh out lbw as Northants pull Somerset back after a solid start.
It's been a slow start for Glamorgan, who have reached seven for two after 13 overs, with Gareth Rees the latest man out.
At Durham it's the old case of 'one brings two':
WICKET. Shahzad gets another as Borthwick drives but slices the ball to point and is out for 5. 34-2 now.
— Durham Cricket Club (@DurhamCricket) August 31, 2014
11.43am - Keaton Jennings misjudges a ball from Ajmal Shahzad and sees his stumps disturbed to leave Durham 28 for one.
11.36am - Ned Eckersley made a brisk start but has edged behind to give Coles a second victim of the morning.
He passed 1,000 runs moments ago, but Marcus Trescothick has become the first wicket to fall at Taunton as David Willey gets the breakthrough.
We are 20 for 0 loss after 8 overs and Marcus Trescothick has just passed 1,000 First Class runs this season.
— Somerset Cricket (@SomersetCCC) August 31, 2014
11.28am - Lancashire have steadied somewhat since the loss of the two early wickets. Warwickshire, Durham, Somerset and Derbyshire have all made steady progress so far, making it through the first half-hour against the new ball without losing any wickets.
11.19am - Matt Coles has an early breakthrough at the Ageas Bowl; Greg Smith edges to slip for just a single.
Jacques Rudolph has also fallen cheaply as Mitch Claydon continues a good start for the bowlers across the country.
Sensational start - a double wicket maiden by Sidebottom who is getting the ball to swing appreciably from the Statham End. #LanvYor
— Lancashire CCC (@LancsCCC) August 31, 2014
11.07am - Usman Khawaja is gone first ball! Two wickets in three balls for Sidebottom, who is on a hat-trick!
Ashwell Prince sees it off for Lancashire, but it's a brilliant start by Sidebottom and co.
11.04am - Yorkshire have a breakthrough second ball! Ryan Sidebottom traps Paul Horton in front and it's a dream start for the White Rose.
Kieran Bull makes his first-class debut for Glamorgan.
