Centurion Tom Alsop and Haseeb Hameed dominated a total of 305 for five as England Under-19s comfortably beat South Africa at Trent Bridge to double their series lead.
Alsop struck a blistering 83-ball 107 from number three and Hameed was run out for 97, the second time he has fallen for that score in the series.
Hameed shared an opening stand of 112 with captain Will Rhodes, who won the toss, and then added 155 alongside Alsop, who hit 13 fours and three sixes.
England’s bowlers chipped away at the Proteas batsmen, number three Janneman Malan top-scoring with 76.
Rain interrupted play at 123 for three in the 27th over and left the tourists chasing 291 from 46 overs.
Matthew Fisher crucially had Malan caught behind soon after the restart and Josh Shaw finished with 4-47 as South Africa were dismissed in the 43rd over, making England’s margin of victory 74 runs on Duckworth/Lewis.
