England wicketkeeper Jos Buttler has made the most of a winter move to Lancashire, his impressive performances have earned him a place in the Test side, which culminated in a dramatic win at Emirates Old Trafford.
The hosts won the fourth Investec Test against India by an innings and 54 runs after taking nine wickets in the evening session of the third day, set up by Buttler’s determined innings of 70 earlier on, and the adopted Lancastrian is delighted with the start to his Test career.
Speaking to ecb.co.uk, he said:“I couldn’t have wished for a better start, especially here today at what is now my home ground. The atmosphere is incredible and that period where we took four quick wickets and make it look like we could win the game tonight was amazing.
“It was a brilliant team performance from the start of the game to finish. We bowled exceptionally well that first morning from losing the toss but to pick up those wickets tonight we bowled so well, especially Moeen.
“The guys at the other end with (Stuart) Broady out of the attack, they had to stand up and they did that brilliantly.”
Buttler also revealed that he was happy he could show his adaptability with the bat. Having scored 85 in his first Test knock at the Ageas Bowl as England piled on the runs, he turned up for his country this time when they really needed him.
He added: “(I’m) delighted that they’re two different innings in different scenarios and it’s a confidence booster for me to know that I could play the type of innings that I could this game, but a little frustrating as well because you always feel like you can get more runs.”
