Brentham scorer Ivor Chaplin will today take part in his 700th consecutive Middlesex County Cricket League match at Meadvale Road, with Harrow St Mary’s CC the visitors.
Chaplin has scored every league match Brentham have ever played - a record that stretches back to 1972 - while his first XI consecutive scoring record goes back four years earlier and embraces no fewer than 1,880 games.
He is also the club's statistician and it is due to his commitment to the role that Brentham are able to award numbered caps to every player who has represented the first XI in the league, with Chaplin given the honour of '0'.
Saturday's tea interval will include a special presentation ceremony and the scorebox will be re-dedicated in his name following a renovation.
Chaplin is also a vice-president of the MCCL – given in recognition of his unique position in the league’s history.
