Lancashire Lightning will hope to maintain their position at the summit of the North group when Northants Steelbacks visit in the NatWest T20 Blast tonight.

Lightning, who are joint-top with Worcestershire Rapids, are monitoring the fitness of Andrew Flintoff who is still waiting to make is comeback from retirement.

The former England all-rounder has been receiving treatment on his left ankle and is facing a race against time to make the clash with the reigning champions.

One man who will definitely feature is Jos Buttler after hisimpressive LV= County Championship century at Durham earlier in the week.

The England man has yet to hit the straps for the Red Rose in his first two outings but that is something he wants to change at Emirates Old Trafford.

“Everyone’s stood up and put in some real team performances,” he told the club’s website.

“Personally, I obviously want to score more runs and have that innings which is a winning innings and win a match for Lancashire.

“So I will be looking to score more runs come Friday night, but again everyone can chip in and make a good team performance and hopefully another win.”

Northants suffered an eight-wicket defeat against Birmingham Bears on Thursday night and they have named the same squad for both matches.

James Middlebrook is the only addition to the squad thatlost to Yorkshire Vikings last week.

* Steven Croft is in line to play his 95th consecutive T20 match for Lancashire, matching Paul Nixon’s record for most consecutive matches for a team by an English player.
