Essex claimed an upset win over Berkshire by four wickets in the latest round of the Royal London Women’s One-Day Cup on Sunday.
Overseas signing Heather Graham was the star for Essex as she claimed 4-32 before steering her side home with an unbeaten 52.
Berkshire had looked like they might defend 193 when they reduced Essex to 133 for six in reply.
But Australian Graham and Kara Toleman, who crucially hit an unbeaten 44 from 31 balls, guided Essex to an upset win with three overs to spare.
Middlesex also provided a shock as Surrey were beaten by four wickets.
Surrey needed an unbroken 82-run stand for the ninth wicket between Rachel Candy and Katherine Robson to lift them to 177 for eight.
Beth Morgan made sure Middlesex were always likely to run down the chase with an unbeaten 79 from 91 balls.
Nottinghamshire overcame Warwickshire by six wickets.
Sonia Odedra’s took 4-25 to restrict Warwickshire to 132 before Danni Wyatt and Jenny Gunn narrowly missed out on half-centuries in a chase completed after 29.2 overs.
In Division Two, Anya Shrubsole hit 102 as Somerset beat Durham by 127 runs while Natalie Brown’s unbeaten 112 lead Lancashire to a similarly wide-margin win over Cheshire.
Ireland beat Wales by six wickets while Devon edged Worcestershire by just nine runs.
Next Sunday’s fixtures will be highlighted by the top-of-the-table clash between Kent and Sussex.
