Medhurst gives St Just high hopes

St Just, looking to return to their glory days and win their first Premier Division title since 2009, remain well clear at the top of the Jolly’s Drinks ECB Cornwall Premier League thanks to their 2014 signing from Australian grade cricket Harry Medhurst.

Medhurst, 23, an exciting all-rounder playing for Weston Creek Molonglo Cricket Club in the Cricket ACT Grade Competition made the lions share of St Just’s total 251 for seven with 126. Truro were 186 for nine after Tom Sharp made 77 handing St Just another 17 points for the draw.

St Austell scored 224 for three at Camborne who were all out for 178 with a couple of overs remaining.

Newquay got their first win with a four wicket success at home to Grampound Road. Tom Hughes made 90 in the Road’s 240 for 9. Usman Arshad hit 96 in the Newquay reply of 241 for six.

Werrington beat Falmouth by 80 runs after making 274. Ben Smeeth made 87 and George Popperwell took 6-59. Falmouth were 194 all out.

Redruth  were 118 all out against Callington who went on to win by 10 wickets. Matt Robins took 5 wickets and made 60 not out.
