Joe Denly inspired Middlesex to a convincing331-run win over Oxford MCCU at the Parks.
The former Kent man plundered 78 in Middlesex’s large first-innings total, 55 in their quickfire second and then recorded career-best bowling figures of 3-13 as Oxford were blown away.
Having been bowled out for just 54 in their first innings, the students were set an unlikely 562 to win and got nowhere near their target as Denly and Ravi Patel’s 3-48 saw them dismissed for 230.
Matt Winter did put up some resistance with a fluent 80, which contained 13 boundaries, but Middlesex’s attack was too strong.

Leicestershire enjoyed the better oftheir draw with Leeds/Bradford MCCU.
With only 8.4 overs possible on the first day, the Foxes could not force a result, despite bowling their hosts out for 125 in the first innings.
After adding 30 runs to their overnight total, Leicestershire declared on 373 for seven and soon got to work on the students, with James Pearson recording figures of 6-43.
Despite a heavy first-innings lead they chose to bat again and the captain’s shook hands with the Foxes 61 for one.
