10:35pm - RESULT! Hampshire Royals (277/8) beat Derbyshire Falcons (231/8) by 46 runs at the Ageas Bowl. After Wheater’s late-innings heroics, it was always going to be a tough ask for Derbyshire to mount a successful run-chase, and so it proved. 53 from Redfern gave the hosts a couple of tricky moments, but with Sohail finishing with 3-42, they were always in control.
That’s all for tonight’s action. Be sure to return tomorrow when we have coverage of all three Group A games as well as the tasty Champions Trophy semi-final encounter between England and South Africa at The Oval.
10:03pm - It’s almost game over at the Ageas Bowl where Madsen has been trapped lbw by Dawson for 43. Successive boundaries from the Falcons captain in the previous over had given the away side a glimmer of hope, but that looks to have been extinguished now, following Madsen’s dismissal.
9:47pm - Madsen and Redfern are certainly giving it their all, but are struggling to find those much-needed boundaries. They now need 106 from the last 10 overs. It’s going to require some big fireworks in the next 15 minutes or so.
9:24pm - Quite a finish at Emirates Old Trafford then! With that game done and dusted, we can turn our attentions to Derbyshire's run chase. The equation is 150 needed from 102 balls with six wickets remaining. Improbable, but not impossible.
@LancsCCC on Twitter: Smith was on strike conscious that Prince was 2 runs away from a century but Goudie's leg side no ball evaded the keeper and went for 4.
9:18pm - RESULT! Lancashire Lightning (218/3) beat Scottish Saltires (217/9) by seven wickets at Emirates Old Trafford. Would you believe it? Four wides off a no ball leaves Prince, pictured, stranded on 98 not out! Incredible stuff. Still, it’s been a classy performance from the left-hander who struck seven fours and two sixes in his 102-ball stay at the crease.
9:11pm - The pressure has told for Derbyshire, who have suffered the loss of both Borrington and Chanderpaul. First, Wheater stumps the Falcons number three off Dawson for 42. The next ball, Chanderpaul is run out after great work from Adams. It’s going to need a miraculous effort from skipper Wayne Madsen and Dan Redfern to prevent the Royals from taking the points in this one.
The game at Emirates Old Trafford is reaching a conclusion which has been on the cards for a while, but things have suddenly got interesting with Prince needing four for a century and the Lightning needing eight for victory. Can the South African reach a ton?
8:59pm - A brilliant diving catch by Mommsen has curtailed Karl Brown’s innings, but with Prince still there, unbeaten on 80, there’s no cause for alarm for Lancashire. They need 40 runs from 48 balls with seven wickets remaining.
Derbyshire’s required run rate is up to eight an over. Borrington and Chanderpaul will need to take off the handbrake soon if they are mount a serious challenge. Although wicketless, Wood’s five overs for 19 have done an excellent job in turning the screw.
8:34pm - After 10 overs, the Falcons are 59 for two. That’s because Durston has hit Mascarenhas straight to Dawson at mid-off who takes a simple catch. Shivnarine Chanderpaul sends his first delivery to the boundary rope and you get the feeling, for the visitors to win, he’s going to have to play a pivotal knock.
The Saltires’ double breakthrough has slowed Lancashire’s momentum, but the hosts shouldn’t come across too many difficulties with them now needing 66 runs from 78 deliveries.
8:14pm - Moore’s replacement, skipper Steven Croft, hasn’t lasted long, removed by Iqbal for seven. At the other end, Prince continues to exhibit his class, now unbeaten on 52 from 48 balls at the half-way point in the Lancashire run-chase.
Derbyshire’s required run rate has moved past seven an over, meaning Wes Durston and Paul Borrington need to press on.
7:59pm - Wheater’s innings has left Derbyshire with a daunting victory target of 278, and they’ve suffered an early setback almost immediately. Chesney Hughes hit 11 off Mascarenhas’ first over before edging Sohail through to Wheater.
Lancashire have also lost their first wicket, but in very different circumstances. Moore, pictured, made 53, putting on 105 for the first wicket with Prince, before he was wrapped on the pads by Iqbal, bringing about his downfall. The Lightning have a relatively straightforward task of finding 109 runs from 23 overs.
@LancsCCC on Twitter:Prince on fire with two glorious drives for 4. Lancs motoring, 89-0 after 13 overs, Moore 48* Prince 38* - 129 required from 27 overs
7:26pm - Derbyshire manage to snare Wheater in the penultimate over, but not before the Royals wicket-keeper makes a potentially match-winning knock. He bludgeoned 70 off just 41 balls to propel Hampshire to 277 for eight from 40 overs. Dawson earlier made 34 with Dimitri Mascarenhas adding 19 down the order to ensure the hosts reclaim the initiative.
Moore and Prince have begun in expert fashion for Lancashire reaching 47 without loss from nine overs.
@hantscricket on Twitter: Straight six from Wheater (54*) brings up his first List A fifty for the Royals. Top knock. Hants now 240-6. Three overs left.
6:54pm - Liam Dawson and Adam Wheater have done a fine job in getting the Royals back on an even keel, adding an unbeaten 64-run stand for the sixth wicket.
Lancashire Lightning have got their reply up and running. Stephen Moore and Ashwell Prince are the men tasked with getting the hosts off on the right foot.
@hantscricket on Twitter: Consecutive scoops over the keeper's head for four from Dawson 23* moves the Royals to 174-5. 10 overs remain.
6:26pm - The away side’s progress at Emirates Old Trafford stalled somewhat towards the end of their innings with Majid Haq and Matthew Cross, pictured, both ousted in the penultimate over.
Michael Leask was the ninth wicket to go down with three balls to go, as the Scottish Saltires ended up on 217 for nine from 40 overs.
Elsewhere, Derbyshire’s are now firmly in command following McKenzie’s dismissal for 38. With 14 overs still to go, Hampshire are 139 for five.
6:14pm - Preston Mommsen, who made 46, and Moneeb Iqbal have both departed in quick succession with two overs to go now in Manchester. Nevertheless, the hosts look set to chase down a challenging total. White will be pleased with his efforts, however, boasting figures of 4-38 from his allocation.
Hampshire need a substantial knock from McKenzie at the Ageas Bowl with Sean Ervine gone for nine, run out. Derbyshire are taking wickets at regular intervals, leaving the game intriguingly set up. The Royals are 133 for four from 23 overs.
6:01pm - Carberry has gone! Just three runs after reaching his fifty, the Royals opener is caught down the leg-side by Richard Johnson off Wainwright. With the innings about to reach it’s half-way point shortly, that’s a real fillip for the Derbyshire attack.
At Emirates Old Trafford, MacLeod has been dismissed attempting to land a few lusty blows in the closing stages to give White his second scalp.
5:47pm - Ominously for the Falcons, Carberry looks in fine fettle. Remember, this is the man who struck an unbeaten 150 on his last sojourn at the crease in a YB40 game. He’s brought up a chanceless half-century from 52 deliveries this afternoon with the Derbyshire bowlers beginning to toil.
There’s six overs to go in the first innings at Emirates Old Trafford, where the Saltires are 176 for three.
5:34pm - Stephen Parry has the prized wicket of Coleman, lbw for a well-made 63. MacLeod, who has also made a fifty, is now the key man for the Saltires.
Michael Carberry has dispatched Mark Footitt into the stands to kick-start the Royals innings which is moving at a good pace with McKenzie the other man in the middle. The Falcons will be looking to break this partnership, which has already added 37, pretty quickly.
5:19pm - The Royals have reached the eight-over point two wickets down with James Vince and Jimmy Adams both back in the pavilion. Vince was caught at deep square-leg by Mark Turner for a duck, sweeping Wes Durston, while Adams made 24 before upper-cutting Turner into the hands of David Wainwright at third man.
Lancashire Lightning continue to be foiled by Coleman, pictured, who has now moved past 50. At the other end, Calum MacLeod has struck 44 as the visitors head into their final 10 overs in rude health.
4:39pm - Berrington and Coleman compiled a partnership of 45, but the former has now departed after edging the fifth ball of Jordan Clark’s first over through to Gareth Cross. The visitors have moved on to 64 for two in the 14th over.
We’re moments away from play at the Ageas Bowl meanwhile...
