4.12pm - Qasim Ali has been appointed as the new Head Coach of the England Physical Disability. Read more here.

4.10pm - ecb.co.uk's James O'Brien at Nottinghamshire (139/4) v Northamptonshire (248): We waited about an hour and 20 minutes for some more play only for the players to head back off after just one ball as standing water remained on parts of the outfield. Thankfully it was only a short delay on this occasion and play will resume now with Taylor no doubt eyeing a century before the close.

4.07pm - It is tea in the two games that have dodged the rain lately at Lord's and the Ageas Bowl. Middlesex are 412 for six against Lancs, while Glamorgan are 154 for four against Hampshire

3.44pm – Rain washes out the third day, just like the first, at the 3aaa County Ground with Kent 10 without loss in reply to Derbyshire's 118.

Scott Borthwick and Kumar Sangakkara share a century stand against Sussex, who are struggling for a breakthrough with Durham 134 for two.

3.39pm – Bad light comes to Warwickshire's rescue at Headingley, with an early tea taken.

3.27pm – Steven Patterson ends Tim Ambrose and Chris Woakes' sixth-wicket stand of 49 by bowling the wicketkeeper-batsman for 28. The visitors to Headingley are still 164 behind on 80 for six.

ecb.co.uk's James O'Brien at Nottinghamshire (136/4) v Northamptonshire (248): The rain inevitably came and forced the umpires to take an early tea at 3.10pm. It does appear to have stopped now but the covers remain in place and the clean-up operation is not yet underway.

3.15pm – Will Bragg's impressive form with the bat continues at the Ageas Bowl. He moves to a fifty that leaves Glamorgan just 14 runs behind Hampshire with six second-innings wickets in tact.

2.50pm – The games at Trent Bridge, the 3aaa County Ground, where there will be no play before tea, the BrightonandHoveJobs.com County Ground and the Kia Oval are affected by the weather.

2.32pm – Brooks has another to continue Yorkshire's victory charge, pinning Ateeq Javid in front to leave the visitors 31 for five, still needing another 213 to make the White Rose bat again. Dougie Brown's side have lost four wickets for 10 runs in four overs.

Glamorgan are also staring at defeat at the Ageas Bowl. They are 60 for four, still trailing by 61, following Stewart Walters' exit to Sean Ervine.

Hogg strikes again to account for Joe Denly at Lord's while Patel has lost his wicket at Trent Bridge, dismissed by Maurice Chambers for 30 to leave Nottinghamshire 121 for four.

ecb.co.uk's James O'Brien at Nottinghamshire (117/3) v Northamptonshire (248): Patel rode his luck in the first over of the afternoon session – with an edge only just dropping short of slip and Ben Duckett putting down a tough chance at point – but soon settled down and his partnership with Taylor is approaching 100. There have been some eye-catching boundaries mixed in with poor shots. The weather appears to be closing in. Fingers crossed it stays away.

2.22pm – Warwickshire are in all sorts of trouble on 25 for four as Jack Brooks and Bresnan account for Laurie Evans and Ian Bell, who made 95 in the first innings, respectively.

Morgan has gone for 103, caught by England team-mate Jos Buttler off Tom Smith.

2.12pm – Two wickets fall in three balls at Headingley put Yorkshire on top. Tim Bresnan ousts Varun Chopra to leave Warwickshire, trailing by 223, on 21 for two.

The Sri Lankans have won the toss and elected to field at the Essex County Ground. We will have a close-of-play report on ecb.co.uk later, along with a story on Kevin O'Brien signing for Surrey.

2.06pm – Taylor raises his bat after making a fifty at Trent Bridge, where Nottinghamshire have moved into three figures and are progressing nicely.

Kyle Hogg bowls Neil Dexter for 51, ending a stand of 121 with centurion Morgan, to leave Middlesex 41 ahead on 307 for four.

1.58pm – Eoin Morgan reaches a century at Lord's. The left-hander moves to the milestone off 188 balls.

James Taylor and Samit Patel share a fifty stand as Nottinghamshire move to 82 for three at Trent Bridge.

1.09pm – As promised, here are the lunchtime scores around the country:

Division One

Warwickshire, dismissed for 200 despite 95 from skipper Ian Bell, are two without loss following-on against Yorkshire, who posted a first-innings 444 at Headingley yesterday.

Middlesex, for whom Eoin Morgan and Neil Dexter and 95 and 50 not out respectively, are leading Lancashire by 34 runs on 300 for three at Lord’s.

Scott Borthwick has 53 of Durham’s81 for two in reply to Sussex’s 505 for nine declared at the BrightonandHoveJobs.com County Ground.

Nottinghamshire are 71 for three in reply to Northamptonshire’s first-innings 248 at Trent Bridge.

Division Two

After bowling Hampshire out for 345, Glamorgan are struggling on 14 for three, still 107 runs behind at the Ageas Bowl.

Only 1.4 overs were possible due to rain on the third morning at the Kia Oval, where Surrey are 46 without loss in their pursuit of 267 to beat Gloucestershire.

The elements wiped out the third morning at the 3aaaCounty Ground, with Kent still 10 without loss in response to Derbyshire’s 118.

ecb.co.uk's James O'Brien at Nottinghamshire (65/3) v Northamptonshire (248): James Taylor and Samit Patel have set about rebuilding the Notts innings since Lumb departed one delivery on from taking a nasty blow to the hand. Both batsmen have been quick to pounce on the bad balls but there have been signs of uneven bounce and they will need to be wary of that in the afternoon session.

12.56pm – Hampshire are making major in-roads on the Glamorgan top-order. James Tomlinson's second wicket, that of Murray Goodwin for a three-ball duck, leaves the visitors nine for three, 112 adrift at the Ageas Bowl.

Warwickshire are following-on 244 runs behind at Headingley while rain forces an early lunch at the BrightonandHoveJobs.com County Ground, with Durham 81 for two.

With lunch approaching, we will run through the scores shortly.

12.50pm – The wet weather is also playing its part at the Essex County Ground. The hosts, who included England pair Alastair Cook and Ravi Bopara in their side, are playing the Sri Lankans in a 50-over day/night clash. You can read a preview for that fixture here

12.45pm – Warwickshire are on the brink at Headingley. Adil Rashid pins Richard Jones lbw to leave them nine down for 198. Can Chris Wright help Bell reach 100? The latter is five short.

Glamorgan batsman Jacques Rudolph's poor form continues, edging Kyle Abbott to second slip to go for nine.

Rain is taking its toll in the capital as early lunches are taken at the Kia Oval and Lord's respectively, preventing Middlesex from extending their lead over Lancashire and Surrey, on 46 without loss, in their pursuit of 267 to beat Gloucestershire.

12.30pm – Nottinghamshire are in trouble now, slipping to 30 for three when Michael Lumb is stumped off Andrew Hall.

Bad light has taken the players off the field at Lord's, with Eoin Morgan five short of a century.

12.15pm – Hampshire only manage to add another 15 runs this morning and are dismissed for 345 by Glamorgan, who are 121 runs behind at the Ageas Bowl.

ecb.co.uk's James O'Brien at Nottinghamshire (29/2) v Northamptonshire (248): Northants needed early wickets and they have got two. Hales looked in good touch before edging Azhar Ullah to David Sales at second slip and Jaques did likewise off Maurice Chambers after a less-than-convincing innings. You would think the visitors would need to bowl Notts out for around 100 to stand a chance of pushing for victory. They are on track but need to make the batsmen play more.

12.05pm – Ian Bell, on 87, gets a life as England team-mate Joe Root fails to take a catch at leg slip off Plunkett.

Neil Dexter moves to a half-century, off 122 balls, at Lord's. Middlesex, on 297 for three, are leading by 31.

Hampshire are nine down as Graham Wagg removes Michael Bates for 23.

11.58am – Liam Plunkett, replacing Tim Bresnan, makes the breakthrough at Headingley. The paceman has Keith Barker caught behind by Jonny Bairstow for 20, leaving Warwickshire 266 behind on 178 for seven.

Australian opening batsman Phil Jaques departs for a 17-ball duck at Trent Bridge, where Nottinghamshire are struggling on 21 for two.

11.40am – Play is underway at Lord's, where Eoin Morgan and Neil Dexter take their fourth-wicket stand into three figures.

Alex Hales, recalled to the Nottinghamshire side, is dismissed by Azhar Ullah for 15.

11.35am – England Head Coach Peter Moores has announced his squads for the NatWest T20 international versus Sri Lanka and the first three matches of the Royal London one-day series against the same opponents. Read more here.

ecb.co.uk's James O'Brien at Nottinghamshire v Northamptonshire (248): We got underway on time for the first time in the match here at Trent Bridge and Nottinghamshire took full advantage. They needed only 19 deliveries to wrap up the Northamptonshire innings – Andy Carter castling Maurice Chambers and then trapping Muhammad Azhar Ullah in front. The match appears destined for a draw but a flurry of early wickets for Northants or a flyer for Notts and we may have a game on our hands.

11.13am – Durham lose an early wicket as Mark Stoneman departs to James Anyon for a single.

11am – Rain is hampering the start of the day's play at Lord's, the 3aaa County Ground and the Ageas Bowl.

10.55am – Hello and welcome to our coverage of day three in this round of LV= County Championship games. Here’s how they stand:

Division One

Sussex, for whom Luke Wright and Ben Brown yesterday fell for first-class bests of 189 and 163 respectively after a club record sixth-wicket stand of 335, are 505 for nine versus Durham at the BrightonandHoveJobs.com County Ground.

Middlesex, for whom Eoin Morgan is 76 not out, are 275 for three in reply to Lancashire’s 266 at Lord’s.

Warwickshire, despite Ian Bell's unbeaten half-century, are 136 for six in reply to Yorkshire's 444 at Headingley.

Northamptonshire are 241 for eight against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge, with Peter Siddle having claimed four wickets.

Division Two

Surrey are 41 for no wicket in pursuit of 266 as their clash with Gloucestershire moves on quickly at the Kia Oval.

Hampshire, for whom Liam Dawson, Michael Carberry and James Vince hit fifties, are 330 for eight in response to Glamorgan’s 244 at the Ageas Bowl.

Kent are 10 without loss at the 3aaa County Ground, after Doug Bollinger and Darren Stevens claimed five wickets apiece to dismiss Derbyshire for 118.
