The weather forecast suggested a washout but although all six of the Birmingham Premier Division games were affected by rain, only one was abandoned without a result.
West Bromwich Dartmouth maintained their 100% record with a victory at Himley who scored 220 for six in 50 overs with Worcestershire’s Tom Kohler-Cadmore top scoring with 42.
He and Jamie Harris (36) put together an opening stand of 84 which laid the foundation for Himley’s total.
After a number of rain interruptions, Dartmouth were faced with a revised target of 169 to win in 32 overs which they duly reached for the loss of seven wickets with eight balls to spare, thanks to 46 from Mohammed Sajid and 41 from Aqsad Ali.
Himley’s left-arm seamer Danny Smith bowled well to take 5-21. Walsall relieved Brockhampton of their unbeaten record with a five wicket win at Gorway after the Herefordshire outfit were dismissed for 107.
Brockhampton appeared to be cruising to a competitive total when they reached 42 for the loss of Adam Hewlett but Paul Byrne (4-8) and Paul Wicker (3-32) triggered a collapse to 59 for seven before Nick Powell (26) enabled them to reach 107.
Walsall lost three early wickets before a stand of 69 for the fourth wicket between David Powles (41) and Alex McChristie (30 not out) saw their side to their first League success of the season.
A club record second wicket stand of 235 between Joe Leach (144 off 126 balls) and Steven Leach (88 off 114 balls) inspired Shrewsbury to 283 for five in 46 overs against Dorridge who responded with 169 for nine in 42 overs after their innings was shortened by an interruption for rain.
Andy Wing took 3-30 for Dorridge who are the only side without a win in the first three games.
Left-arm spinner Charlie Morris took 3-22 for Shrewsbury and there were two wickets each for Alex Blofield and Elliott Green. David Ball starred for Dorridge with an unbeaten 77. Knowle & Dorridge defeated Kidderminster Victoria by six wickets after they chased a revised target of 95 in 20 overs.
Craig Wood hit an unbeaten 83 in Kidderminster’s total of 197 but 44 not out from Alec Baker eased K & D to victory in 16 overs. The match between Walmley and Berkswell began as a 41 overs per side contest with the home side reaching 258 for seven, thanks to former York player Olly Harris who made 103 from 58 balls.
Due to a weather interruption, Berkswell were set a revised target of 203 in 31 overs which they, duly, achieved with 11 balls in hand for the loss of six wickets. Nick James finished unbeaten on 60 and the Berkswell total also received a boost from 54 extras which included 44 wides!
Kenilworth Wardens inserted Barnt Green at Cherry Hill Road and restricted the home side to 150 all out in 40 overs with Matt Hancock taking 3-25. Sam Cheshire top scored with 56 for Barnt Green but no further play was possible after rain had the final say.
