Chris Jordan has vowed not to get ahead of himself as he looks to build on his breakthrough winter.
Jordan established himself as a player for the future during the tours of Australia and the West Indies before embarking on his first major international tournament at the World Twenty20 in Bangladesh.
It was a steep learning curve for the 25-year-old, who drew plaudits for the way he quickly adapted to life on the international stage.
Former Australia paceman Brett Lee was particularly impressed with Jordan’s speed and accuracy and, while the right-armer has enjoyed his ascent to an England shirt, he is determined to remain grounded.
“One of the things that I was thinking about and dreaming about as kid growing up making my debut on the international arena,” he toldecb.co.uk.
“I got to that stage and I thought enjoy it and express myself the way I know how to. Luckily that paid off.

“I’m bowling quite consistently at the minute so I just want to keep my head down, keep continuing that and hopefully I can get a lot wickets for England if selected this summer.”
Jordan began the domestic summer by taking 11 wickets in two LV= County Championship matches for Sussex before being selected in the squad for today’s Royal London one-day international against Scotland in Aberdeen.
He thinks he is fitter than ever and that his pace has been benefitted because of it.
“I’ve had it in me to bowl quite quickly,” he said.
“At this point in time my body is feeling a lot fitter, I’m recovering well and feeling a lot stronger.
“I think I’m able to sustain that base for a little bit longer now, which is quite encouraging for me and quite exciting for me as that is where I want to be at.”
