Pakistan pace great Waqar Younis has been appointed for a second spell as the country's head coach.

The 42-year-old has agreed a two-year contract, which will begin next month when he finishes his commitments with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League.

Waqar previously led the national team from 2010-11, before resigning for personal reasons. He served as bowling coach for four years previously.

Pakistan have turned to their former fast bowling great Waqar Younis to coach them for the second time after agreeing a two-year deal

A statement from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) read: "A committee constituted by PCB comprising of Mr Intikhab Alam (director, domestic cricket operations), Mr Haroon Rashid (director, game development) and Mr Moin Khan (chief selector) met today to review the applications received for the position of head coach.

"The committee unanimously recommended Waqar Younis for the position of head coach, which has been endorsed by chairman PCB (Najam Aziz Sethi)."

Waqar said: "I am extremely pleased to have been selected as the head coach.

"My immediate aim will be to prepare the team for the upcoming busy cricket season, including next year's ICC Cricket World Cup in Australia and New Zealand."
