Lancashire are likely to hand big-name addition Jos Buttler a debut when they face Warwickshire.
Buttler was rested for the Red Rose’s opening game, a 45-run defeat at Nottinghamshire, but is set to play at Emirates Old Trafford.
That could come amid a further double boost with Kyle Hogg and Glen Chapple expected to return from injuries.
Warwickshire, meanwhile, will be without Jonathan Trott following his decision to take a break from cricket.
Yorkshire have named an unchanged squad from last week’s meeting with Somerset.
The White Rose host Northamptonshire, with Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow – sidelined due to a broken thumb and fractured finger respectively – continuing their rehabilitation.
All-rounder Tim Bresnan, another of Yorkshire’s England contingent, is bowling again and will play once clearance has been given by the ECB.
Northants are boosted by having David Sales back in the ranks, the veteran batsman having missed last week’s tense draw with Durham due to a calf injury.
Olly Stone is also included in a 13-man squad following his century for the second XI, while Ben Duckett, Rob Keogh and James Kettleborough are still not ready to come back from injuries.
On facing former club Northamptonshire, Yorkshire paceman Jack Brooks told ecb.co.uk: "I have got some really good friends still and I know the club really well, people off the field too.
"It will be interesting and quite weird. But I'm sure in the heat of the battle, I will try and forget about it and give them as much stick as I would normally against other opposition."
Durham will be looking forward to returning to their home fortress versus Somerset.
The LV= County Champions almost got their defence off to the dream start, only to be thwarted by Northants’ last-wicket pair batting out the final nine overs to secure a draw.
Somerset also drew their opening game, playing out a bat-dominated stalemate with Yorkshire at Taunton.
LV= County Championship Facts:

• Yorkshire have won four and drawn two of their last six home championship matches against Northamptonshire.
• Warwickshire’s victory in their last visit to Lancashire, in April 2012, ended a run of eight championship trips to the Red Rose County without a win (five draws and three defeats).
• Ashwell Prince’s century against Nottinghamshire was his third in his last four championship innings, the South African having hit a pair in Lancashire’s final match of 2013, against Kent.
