Aaron Finch led Australia to a seven-wicket victory in their final World Twenty20 match against Bangladesh in Dhaka.

With both teams playing for pride having already been eliminated, it looked like being a close contest when the tournament hosts posted 153 for five.

But the Aussies - with Finch making 71 – easily reached their victory target with 15 balls remaining.

Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim won the toss and elected to bat at the Shere Bangla National Stadium.

The hosts made a disappointing start as they lost openers Tamim Iqbal and Anamul Haque early on - both falling victim to the bowling of Nathan Coulter-Nile.

Aaron Finch smashed 71 off just 45 balls as Australia coasted to a seven-wicket win over tournament hosts

Haque was the first to head back to the pavilion in the second over as he was pouched for a duck by Shane Watson at first slip, with Iqbal falling for five two overs later after picking out Doug Bollinger at mid-off.

But Shakib Al Hasan and Rahim managed to turn things around as they added 112 for the third wicket.

Rahim fell for 47 from 36 balls - including five fours and a six - as he was caught by Glenn Maxwell off Watson's bowling to leave his side 124 for three.

And Shakib went in the next over for 66 as Maxwell took another good catch at deep midwicket off Bollinger.

In reply Australia came out strong as openers Finch and David Warner put on an opening partnership of 98 runs.

George Bailey's side lost their first wicket as Warner was bowled for 48 by Al-Amin Hossain.

Finch was next to go as Nasir Hossain took a diving catch off Al-Amin Hossain's bowling, leaving Australia needing 29 runs from the remaining 19 deliveries.

Maxwell was dismissed in the next over by Taskin Ahmed for five, but Cameron White and Bailey guided Australia to a consolation win.
