Jordan Williams and Jimmy Williams shared seven scalps as England Physical Disability thumped Pakistan by nine wickets to set up a one-day series decider tomorrow.
The former returned a career-best 4-23 and the latter, England’s captain, took 3-28 as Pakistan, for whom Jahanzaib Tiwana top-scored with 58, were skittled for 105 after winning the toss.
Alex Hammond’s 59 at almost a run a ball and a steady 35 not out from opening partner Gordon Laidlaw earned victory in the 23rd over of the allocated 40.
The second game of three was delayed a day by heavy rain, leaving little turnaround time before tomorrow’s finale, also at the ICC Global Cricket Academy in Dubai.
Should England prevail tomorrow, it will be an ideal response to losing the Twenty20 rubber 2-1 last week when they did not play to their potential.
Today Pakistan captain Husnain Alam won the toss on the hottest morning of series, but fell lbw to his opposite number in the second over.
Jordan Williams likewise ousted Danish Ahmed and had Rao Javed smartly stumped by Liam Thomas from a leg-side wide. Jimmy Williams followed up by bowling another dangerman, Matoob Qureshi, to leave Pakistan reeling at 16 for four.
Jahanzaib Tiwana confidently rebuilt with support from Ishfaq Ali, who dug in before being trapped in front by Jimmy Williams. Hammond then snared Abdullah Afridi to make it 60 for six.
Tiwana continued to resist until Hammond had him caught on the pull at square-leg, where Iain Nairn held a sharp catch.
It appeared only a matter of time before the innings was over and, with Fred Bridges bowling Ameer Ahmed, it was left to Jordan Williams to claim the last two wickets as Pakistan were dismissed in just 26.4 overs.
Hammond, who scored freely, and Laidlaw began the reply confidently against an attack predominantly comprising spin.
After 10 and 20 overs England had the same score as Pakistan - 47 and 91 respectively - but for no loss.
Hammond went on to his second half-century of the tour, from 54 balls and including five fours, but tried to drive at a flighted delivery only to be bowled by Iqbal Hussain.
Callum Flynn dispatched his first ball to the boundary and two further fours helped England reach their target.
