Tim Bresnan believes England are close to rediscovering the winning habit after going down in a weather-affected defeat against New Zealand in Bangladesh.
The World Twenty20 campaign got under way with an agonising Duckworth/Lewis loss that saw England post a challenging 172 for six before an unexpected thunderstorm arrived.
Bresnan, who struck what appeared to be a vital 17 from just eight balls at the end of the innings, believes the side have performed well in patches during recent performances and warned future opponents that when England put everything together they will provide a formidable test.
“Things haven't gone our way over the last few months but we still believe we're playing good cricket, turning out good performances,” he said.
“Stringing together everything at the same time is a problem for us. If we can find that spark and everything clicks, we can beat anyone in the world.
"We're still working at the same rate, we're still training hard, we're still as fit as we can be. There are a lot of things that have happened that put a dent in things and impacted everything. Coupled with the fact that I believe we've been a little unlucky with a few results."
The 29-year-old Yorkshire seamer is striving to put the disappointment of the New Zealand game behind him, turning his attentin fully to Thursday’s clash with world number one Sri Lanka, who have began their campaign with wins over South Africa and Netherlands.
"We want to put that all to bed now, draw a line under it and move forward," said Bresnan when asked about the controversial loss.
"We've got a lot of cricket to play in this tournament to get out of the group and eventually win it, if we can.
"We're pretty confident we can win the next three. We just need to put in the performance and have everything click together."
Meanwhile, skipper Stuart Broad has welcomed the addition of Craig Kieswetter to the group.
Kieswetter replaced the injured Luke Wright in England's squad and Broad believes the explosive batsman can fill various roles in the team.
Broad said: “We know he’s a powerful striker. He can bat in the top order or do that position that Wrighty would have filled at number seven, being a power-hitter there.
We’re disappointed to lose Luke, he had a grade one tear. It’s a shame he’s going home.
“(Kieswetter) is an exciting, powerful hitter and he’s there if we need him.”
