Despite play being restricted to 16.5 overs Nottinghamshire fought back strongly on the second day of their LV= County Championship match against Derbyshire at Trent Bridge.
Andre Adams, pictured, removed both Wayne Madsen and Shivnarine Chanderpaul during a rain-interrupted morning session, the visitors slumping from their overnight position of 245 for two to reach 306 for six before heavy showers brought a premature close.
Despite a heftier workload for the likes of Luke Fletcher and Harry Gurney this season, the Nottinghamshire attack had severely missed Adams during an eight week lay-off stemming from a calf injury sustained when the two sides met at Derby in April.
The New Zealander, 38 next month, had appeared fit and well on the first day of the match but only had the one wicket to show for his efforts.
That soon became three as he blew away Derbyshire's two key batsmen after the first of two morning stoppages.
Madsen, who made 74, was beaten by a textbook delivery that nipped back and thudded into his pads - the wicket ending a stand of 165 with Chanderpaul.
The West Indian left-hander, who batted freely on the opening day but was unable to find the same fluency on his return to the crease, then chopped on to fall for 87.
Gurney was a little wild and woolly at the start of the day as he leaked four no-balls and then four byes - both deliveries unstoppable, even by the excellence of wicketkeeper Chris Read.
Finding his range, the left-arm quick bowler induced Wes Durston into playing on and then had 21-year old Ben Slater chipping low to Paul Franks at mid-on.
The last three wickets fell inside 14 deliveries but torrential thunderstorms denied Nottinghamshire the chance of making any further inroads.
