6:14pm - In the end, all five of the fixtures concluding today were drawn, while another stalemate looks highly likely at Taunton.
We will be back tomorrow with updates on that game and a quartet of Yorkshire Bank 40 matches.
6:05pm - RESULT! Hampshire (455 & 207/3d) draw with Kent (321/7d & 296/8) at the Ageas Bowl: Credit to both sides for setting up an intriguing final day at the Ageas Bowl. In the end, Hampshire fall two wickets short, with Kent 46 shy of their victory target.
Stumps have been drawn at Taunton with Somerset seven without loss in their second innings and 28 behind Durham, so we are done for the day!
@hantscricket on Twitter:Difficult chance in the slips goes down. Big chance. Not long left. Looks like the last over...still two wickets needed
5:53pm - RESULT! Warwickshire (631/9d) draw with Surrey (274 & 234/4) at Guildford: They may have suffered a major wobble yesterday evening, but Surrey ultimately deny Warwickshire victory with a degree of comfort. Ricky Ponting and Gary Wilson end the match unbeaten on 38 and 28 respectively.
@hantscricket on Twitter:Six slips here for Hampshire. Balcombe on to bowl, Kent 285-8. 15 minutes to go.
5:44pm - Collingwood becomes Hussain's third scalp and Durham are all out for 493, a first-innings lead of 35.
5:40pm - RESULT! Middlesex (499/8d & 50/3) draw with Sussex (222 & 454) at Lord's: The departure of Gareth Berg convinces Chris Rogers to shake hands with Ed Joyce. Sussex have got out of jail thanks largely to Luke Wright's stunning 187. This will feel like a win for the Division One leaders.
Kent are still eight down, while Somerset cannot find a way to pick up Durham's final wicket.
5:30pm - Steve Magoffin has Neil Dexter caught behind at Lord's and Middlesex's victory hopes are fading.
5:27pm - England are firmly on top now in their Champions Trophy opener against Australia at Edgbaston. You can keep up with the closing stages courtesy of Rob Barnett's live text.
5:21pm - We cannot be far away from the end at Guildford, while Durham are now 27 in front.
Hampshire are still searching for two more breakthroughs...
Middlesex_CCC on Twitter:Wicket. Denly is caught Brown off the bowling of Liddle for 14. Middx 24-1 in the 4th over. 154 to win. Dexter the new batsman
5:04pm - Ryan Buckley falls to Gemaal Hussain with Durham still two in arrears, although they then move ahead courtesy of four byes from Overton.
Middlesex's chase is under way. Can they pull off something special?
Meanwhile, here's a preview of tomorrow's Yorkshire Bank 40 fixtures.
4:59pm - RESULT! Nottinghamshire (443 & 105/1) draw with Yorkshire (572/8d) at Scarborough: A game that will be remembered for Andrew Gale's splendid 272 ends in a draw.
@hantscricket on Twitter: WICKET: Great bit of fielding from Jimmy Adams who runs out Matt Coles with a direct hit! Two wickets to get in a minimum of 14 overs..
4:55pm - Sussex are all out for 454, having been 304 for seven earlier today. Middlesex have 20 overs to score 178.
Coles and Calum Haggett are doing their best to prevent a Kent defeat. They have been together now for 10 overs.
4:52pm - RESULT! Glamorgan (448 & 176/2d) draw with Gloucestershire (478) at Bristol: We have our first result of the day and it is a predictable stalemate.
Jamie Overton removes Mark Wood at Taunton. Durham trail by seven with two first-innings wickets intact.
Middlesex_CCC on Twitter:It has to be said, irrespective of the way this game ends, that was a truly brilliant career-best FC knock by @lukewright204 of @SussexCCC!
Middlesex_CCC on Twitter: Luke Wright goes to Joe Denly for 187 and Sussex are 451-9. The lead is now 174 runs & there are 26.1 overs left! Need this last wicket NOW!
4:44pm - Wright is stumped off Joe Denly for a sensational 187 ... is there still time for Middlesex??
@SussexCCC on Twitter: So 27 overs remaining and we have a lead of 170... @lukewright204 183*, @magsy64 7*. #believe#sharklove
4:39pm - Jeetan Patel keeps Warwickshire's slender hopes of a Guildford win alive by picking up the wicket of Zander de Bruyn. The Bears need six more and are running out of time.
4:30pm - Briggs strikes for the second time in as many overs, ousting Geraint Jones, who was caught at short-leg like Bell-Drummond, to boost Hampshire's victory push.
Sussex are now 168 ahead and must be close to being safe. It has been a phenomenal effort from Ed Joyce's side, led by the outstanding Wright.
Glamorgan's batsmen continue to make hay as their game with Gloucestershire drifts towards an inevitable draw. Will Bragg and Marcus North have put on an unbroken half-century stand.
4:20pm - Hampshire claim another valuable scalp, Danny Briggs getting rid of Daniel Bell-Drummond for 66. Kent are six down now and 123 shy of their target as Matt Coles joins Geraint Jones.
Murtagh was the unfortunate bowler when Wright was put down and the seamer has just been taken for two fours and a three to rub salt in the wound.
Durham are now seven down, Richardson having been run out for 70.
4:16pm - Goodness me! Luke Wright is dropped by Chris Rogers. How significant could that prove? Wright subsequently moves past his previous highest first-class score.
4:09pm - Paul Collingwood follows Michael Richardson to a fifty at Taunton.
Sussex are getting ever closer to safety, playing out maiden upon maiden at Lord's.
3:50pm - Tea-time now in all six games. Here are the scores, with a reminder that it is day four everywhere except Taunton, where play will continue tomorrow.
Our best finishes look set to come at Lord's and the Ageas Bowl.
Division One
Sussex are 412 for eight in their second innings and lead Middlesex by 135 at Lord's.
Surrey are 161 for three following on at Guildford and still trail Warwickshire by 196.
At Scarborough, Nottinghamshire are 16 for one in their second innings and 113 behind Yorkshire.
Durham are 407 for six in reply to Somerset's 458 at Taunton.
Division Two
Kent are 194 for five and need a further 148 to beat Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl.
At Bristol, Glamorgan are 129 for two in their second innings, 99 ahead of Gloucestershire.
3:42pm - Wright is two short of his career-best 155 as the afternoon session ends at Lord's. If Sussex do save the game, he will be entitled to a drink or two off his team-mates! The all-rounder also made a valuable 77 in the first innings.
Could Warwickshire make a late push for victory at Guildford? Rikki Clarke removes Rory Burns for 85, leaving Surrey 161 for three at tea. They still trail by 196 heading into the final session.
It is also time for a sandwich and a brew at Scarborough and Bristol.
3:27pm - Hampshire strike a potentially huge blow as Sean Ervine has Stevens caught behind for a breezy 96. That leaves Kent 186 for five.
And there's a big wicket at Lord's as well! Beer falls to Ollie Rayner for a gritty 39. At 406 for eight, Sussex lead by 129.
Alex Hales' poor run of form continues. He goes lbw to Steven Patterson for five at the start of Nottinghamshire's second innings.
In another game destined for a draw, Glamorgan's Stewart Walters has fallen to Benny Howell.
Michael Richardson has a swift fifty for Durham, who have claimed maximum batting points.
3:16pm - Sussex are motoring now, 60 runs having come from the last 10 overs at Lord's. Middlesex need a breakthrough soon if they are not to be denied.
3:07pm - Beer survives an lbw appeal from James Harris and Sussex subsequently take their lead into three figures. Wright has 134.
Paul Collingwood and Michael Richardson are both going along nicely for Durham at Taunton, where wickets have proven hard to come by since day one.
Stevens certainly thinks Kent can still win at the Ageas Bowl. He collects four fours in an over from James Vince to move to 86. Kent are halfway to a target of 342, with six wickets still intact.
2:58pm - Boyd Rankin makes a breakthrough for Warwickshire, inducing an edge behind from Vikram Solanki.
Patel has ousted Hodd at Scarborough, prompting a Yorkshire declaration at 572 for eight.
Bell-Drummond now has 50 for Kent and his partnership with Stevens is worth 110.
@Middlesex_CCC on Twitter: A ripple of applause greets the Sussex 350 coming up as the visitors extend their lead to 73. 51 overs play left in the day! C'mon Middlesex
2:40pm - Stevens whacks Griffiths for six to reach a 60-ball half-century.
As Wright continues to offer resistance at Lord's, a mention too for Will Beer. The spinner faced 141 balls to prolong Sussex's first innings and is unbeaten on 17 from 59 deliveries this time around.
@TrentBridge on Twitter: Samit finally accounts for Gale who has a massive 272. Every Notts man rushes to shake his hand. Yorkshire 552-7 in their first innings
2:36pm - For those of you just joining us, here's a quick summary of how things stand.
The games at Scarborough and Bristol appear certain to end in draws, while Surrey are looking good to deny Warwickshire victory at Guildford.
Sussex are hanging in there against Middlesex, while Kent are doing likewise at the Ageas Bowl.
It is day three at Taunton, where Durham are 343 for six and 115 behind Somerset.
2:32pm - Patel gains a tiny measure of revenge, eventually having Gale caught behind for 272. The left-hander batted for almost nine hours.
2:24pm - Stevens strikes three fours in a David Griffiths over to overtake his partner. Do Kent still fancy their chances of reaching 342 for victory? They would have to go some from here.
At Scarborough, Gale has marched beyond 250 and is doling out severe punishment to Samit Patel.
Rory Burns has a fifty for Surrey, who - at 100 for one - are moving ever closer to safety.
2:15pm - Sussex still have a battle on their hands to avoid defeat, but Luke Wright will not give up. He moves into three figures - for the 10th time in first-class cricket - with a four off Toby Roland-Jones. Ed Joyce's men are now 54 ahead on 331 for seven.
The partnership between Stevens and Bell-Drummond has passed 50.
Glamorgan lose their first second-innings wicket as James Fuller removes Ben Wright. A draw at Bristol is surely inevitable, however.
2:10pm - Phil Mustard falls for 30 at Taunton, where Durham are now 324 for six in reply to Somerset's 458.
Yorkshire have now moved beyond 500.
Darren Stevens and Daniel Bell-Drummond, two players with contrasting experience, are keeping Hampshire's bowlers at bay.
1:59pm - Andrew Gale is continuing to prosper. Twenty-four hours ago, the Yorkshire skipper's highest first-class score was 151. He currently has 223, the best individiual score by a White Rose player at Scarborough.
Glamorgan's openers have taken the score past 50 at Bristol.
1:41pm - The lunch mentioned below has clearly done the trick for Middlesex. Tim Murtagh has Chris Jordan caught behind off the first ball of the afternoon session to edge the Lord's hosts closer to victory.
@Middlesex_CCC on Twitter: Quite how they go out and play cricket after this is beyond me! I'd fancy an afternoon nap! @HomeOfCricket#Yummypic.twitter.com/igqHntyDwf
1:10pm - Wow, that was an action-packed session. Here's a summary of the scores:
Division One
Sussex are 304 for six having followed on at Lord’s and lead Middlesex by 27 runs.
Surrey are 63 for one following on and trail Warwickshire by 294 at Guildford.
At Scarborough, Yorkshire are 462 for six, responding to Nottinghamshire’s 443.
At Taunton, Durham are 290 for five in reply to Somerset’s 458.
Division Two
Glamorgan are 41 without loss in their second innings against Gloucestershire, who they lead by 11 at Bristol.
Kent are 62 for four in their second innings, requiring a further 280 for victory against Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl.
12:59pm - Ben Stokes is unable to kick on significantly from his half-century - Dean Elgar dismissing him, caught by Arul Suppiah for 57.
Another man in the pavilion for lunch before his team-mates was Surrey's Arun Harinath, who fell to the economical spin of Jeetan Patel for 23.
@DurhamCricket on Twitter: The @benstokes38 50 came off 70 balls with 4 fours and 1 six. Durham 280-4. @Colly622 13*.
12:53pm - DOUBLE HUNDRED FOR ANDREW GALE! Following that scare at the hands of Ajmal Shahzad, Gale clipped his former team-mate to fine leg to bring up his double ton in 477 minutes off 349 deliveries, containing 18 fours and a six. Yorkshire's captain has certainly answered his critics in the most emphatic fashion.
12:51pm - Luke Wright is doing a superb job for Sussex and has moved to 87 not out but is running out of partners. Middlesex paceman James Harris made Ben Brown his third scalp of the innings and the visitors are 300 for six, 23 ahead.
@Yorkshireccc on Twitter: Gale survives lbw shout from Shahzad on 199, Yorks 452-6. Probably pitched outside leg stump
@hantscricket on Twitter: WICKET: Griffiths picks up his first wicket! Ben Harmison is caught in the slips and Kent are now 41-4.
12:35pm - Kent might be starting to rue their adventure. Brendan Nash is out for 15, James Tomlinson was the bowler, and the score is 41 for three.
Surrey and Glamorgan are having a far better time of things in their own second innings, sitting on 44 and 25 without loss respectively.
12:30pm - Hopefully avoiding the same hex we placed on poor old Joyce, we'd like to point out that Gale has 196 at Scarborough...
12:25pm - Alas, Ed Joyce cannot get there! He goes for 98 and is Tim Murtagh's second victim. Sussex are 285 for five, a lead of eight.
Of course, Stoneman did make it to three figures for Durham but Peter Trego has dismissed him for 122. The score is 249 for four and the deficit 209
12:15pm - All that time padded up clearly did Adil Rashid no good at all - Ed Cowan holds on to give Luke Fletcher his third wicket and dismiss the all-rounder for a duck.
At Lord's, Sussex have crept into the lead and Ed Joyce is two runs shy of a century against his former county.
12:13pm - Kent's engineered run-chase has not started well at all. David Balcombe has now accounted for both openers, Northeast gone for 13. The score is 17 for two with a further 325 required.
12:04pm - Finally, Nottinghamshire have a breakthrough. Chris Read pouches an under edge from Ballance behind the stumps off Paul Franks' bowling. The partnership was 297 and Ballance had 141.
11:59am - Surrey, who are 17 without loss in their follow-on against Warwickshire, have announced the signing of Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell for their Friends Life T20 campaign.
@kentcricket on Twitter: Wicket. Key c Ervine b Balcombe. Kent 10/1.
11:50am - The stand between Gale and Ballance, currently 287, is Yorkshire's highest for any wicket against Nottinghamshire, surpassing 252 scored by Brian Close and Doug Padgett at Trent Bridge in 1959.
Gloucestershire are all out for 478, just 30 ahead having resumed on 456 for four. Hogan blew them away and heads back to the pavillion with a magnificent career-best 7-92 to his name. Five of those came this morning.
11:44am - Hogan strikes again to remove Miles Hammond without scoring. His figures are 6-92.
11:42am - Two of yesterday evening's stand-out partnerships are still going strong. Unbeaten Yorkshire centurions Gale and Ballance have progressed to respective scores of 178 and 129 at Scarborough, with the hosts 404 for four against Nottinghamshire, while Joyce's 88 sits along Wright's 64 with Sussex 259 for four and continuing to fight hard at Lord's. The deficit is down to 18.
As expected, Warwickshire have asked Surrey to bat again.
11:38am - Liam Dawson and James Vince certainly made the most of a favourable situation in Southampton this morning. The Hampshire duo finished unbeaten on 87 and 79 respectively, adding 154 at a shade over a run a ball for the fourth wicket.
@hantscricket on Twitter: Hampshire have declared on 207-3. Dawson 87*, Vince 79*. Kent need 342 runs to win.
11:33am - Hogan clearly knows best - he now has five at Bristol as Benny Howell departs lbw for 23. Gloucestershire are 475 for seven.
11:30am - Surrey's batsmen might want to take inspiration from those milestones reached elsewhere by Wright and Mark Stoneman. They're all out for 274, Barker and Rankin ending with four wickets apiece, and must expect to have to do it all again.
@DurhamCricket on Twitter: That's 100 for @mark26stone, what great form he is in! His 100 off 160 balls and included 14 fours.
@Middlesex_CCC on Twitter: Fifty up for Luke Wright for @SussexCCC at Lord's. Sussex move onto 237 for 4 and trail by 40 runs!
11:24am - Surrey's chief tormentors last night, Boyd Rankin and Keith Barker, have a wicket apiece this morning and Warwickshire have their hosts 272 for nine, still 359 behind. Barker accounted for Ricky Ponting, who could only add two to his overnight 50.
11:20am - Hogan has Fuller caught by Stewart Walters in the gully and now has very impressive figures of 4-90 in his 35th over. Gloucestershire are 474 for six, a first-innings lead of 26.
@hantscricket on Twitter: Clear agreement amongst both sides here. Dawson has reached 59 with Vince on to 46. 146-3. A lead of 280.
@Yorkshireccc on Twitter: We have started under heavy cloud cover this morning so it could be more challenging to bat.
11:12am - For stats fans out there, Key has three career first-class wickets. Incidentally, that's three more than his spin twin this morning, Sam Northeast.
11:08am - Jones appears to be encouraging a swift Hampshire declaration at the Ageas Bowl. Rob Key's very occasional off-spin makes an appearance for the day's second over at a cost of 10 runs.
11:03am - An unlikely start to proceedings at the batsman's paradise down in Bristol - Glamorgan seamer Michael Hogan has Hamish Marshall caught behind off the first ball of the day! Gloucestershire's new man James Fuller immediately announces himself with a boundary.
11am - Also, as I think you may be aware, there's the small matter of England versus Australia at Edgbaston in the Champions Trophy today. The hosts have made a tidy enough start and are 36 without loss after seven overs. Our man Rob Barnett is in Birmingham and you can follow his live coverage here.
10:50am - Middlesex are looking to complete victory over Sussex and replace their opponents at the top of Division One, although the visitors will be buoyed by some impressive resistance from captain Ed Joyce and Luke Wright at Lord's yesterday evening.
Elsewhere on day four in the top flight, Surrey are in grave danger of the follow-on and a battle to save the game at Guildford against champions Warwickshire, while Andrew Gale and Gary Ballance's Scarborough run-fest means a draw is most likely between Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire.
In Division Two, a fine batting track at Bristol is likely to result in honours ending even between Gloucestershire and Glamorgan but stand-in Kent captain Geraint Jones made a bold declaration at the Ageas Bowl yesterday to set up a fascinating final day versus Hampshire.
10:30am - Good morning and welcome to ecb.co.uk's live county cricket coverage. Following Northamptonshire's thumping 10-wicket win over Worcestershire yesterday, five more LV= County Championship will reach their conclusion across the country. At Taunton, Somerset and Durham resume for a third day. Here's a recap of the state of play:
Division One
Sussex are 228 for four having followed on at Lord’s and trail Middlesex by 49 runs.
Surrey are 269 for seven in reply to Warwickshire’s 631 for nine declared at Guildford.
At Scarborough, Yorkshire are 358 for four, responding to Nottinghamshire’s 443.
At Taunton, Durham are 163 for three in reply to Somerset’s 458.
Division Two
Gloucestershire are 456 for four at Bristol in reply to Glamorgan’s 448
Hampshire are 98 for three in their second innings and lead Kent by 232 at the Ageas Bowl.
