Bangladesh dug in to secure a draw in their second and final Test with Sri Lanka in Chittagong.
Having been set a daunting target of 467 to win, the home side batted throughout the day to reach 271 for three before the captains shook hands.
Mominul Haque’s hundred formed the backbone of the innings, with the promising 22-year-old making it three tons in seven Tests.
He was given ample support throughout as Tamim Iqbal, Shamsur Rahman, Imrul Kayes and Shakib Al Hasan provided useful contributions.
It proved a frustrating day for Sri Lanka, who had hoped to close out a 2-0 series win following Kumar Sangakkara’s 424 runs across two innings in the game.
Their first scalp on the last day was hard-earned, Tamim bowled between bat and pad by Kithuruwan Vithanage.
Dilruwan Perera gave Sri Lanka further hope, inducing an inside-edge on to the stumps from Rahman.
But when the third wicket did not fall until Bangladesh’s score reached 151 – Kayes playing across the line to Perera – it was clear progress was slow.
Mominul’s hundred arrived in 167 balls, after which Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews decided he had seen enough and called time on his side's pursuit of wickets with an hour of play left.
