England Womens’ Academy shared the Twenty20 series with Sri Lanka Emerging Women after each side won once in today’s double-header.
The hosts, including six current international players, took the first game by 14 runs but EWA romped to an eight-wicket triumph to seal a 2-2 scoreline thanks to 60 from 16-year-old Hollie Armitage.
Sri Lanka Emerging Women had responded to a one-run loss on Monday with a five-wicket victory on Wednesday, both games being played at Nondescripts Cricket Club.
The Premadasa Stadium, also in Colombo, which hosted the 2012 World Twenty20 final, was the venue for today’s matches.
Despite Sonia Odedra striking twice in the opener, strong contributions from the home top four underpinned a total of 137 for four.
Fran Wilson top-scored in the reply with 44 from 36 balls, yet the tourists came up short on 123 for six as Chamari Polgampola returned 2-18 from four decisive overs.
EWA were again asked to field first in the second contest and restricted their much-changed opponents to 111 for eight, Stephanie Butler taking 3-18 and Jodie Dibble 2-16.
Armitage dominated the reply. The opener hit nine fours from 48 deliveries before she was stumped at the start of the 14th over. Just another 15 runs were required for victory, which came with 18 balls unused.
