Former Derbyshire batsman John Sadler has joined their coaching team along with Simon Guy, Cookie Patel and Ant Botha

Derbyshire have added four new faces to their coaching team to work under new elite cricket performance director Graeme Welch.

John Sadler, Simon Guy, Cookie Patel and Ant Botha have joined the backroom staff and join existing coaches Stephen Stubbings and AJ Harris at the County Ground.

Welch will lead on seam bowling and will be supported by Harris, who will also focus on academy development, while Sadler - who has established his own coaching academy based in Yorkshire - takes up the role of batting coach and he will be supported by Stubbings.

Former Derbyshire captain Botha has returned from his coaching position in Australia to work with the club's spin bowling group and will assist in coaching batsmen, while ECB women's fielding coach Patel joins as a specialist fielding coach and Guy as specialist wicketkeeping coach.

Welch, who was appointed on a three-year deal early last month, said: "The new elite performance coaching structure shows our long-term ambition.

"We're delighted with the calibre of coaches we've been able to attract and it's notable that our management and support team now boasts a combined total of way over 700 first-class appearances.

"Every member of the elite coaching team has earned their place. They're all leaders within their disciplines and will bring great knowledge and expertise to the team.

"It will give our players, from grassroots right through to the professional game, the best possible preparation and support."
